Reporting directly to the Principal, Business Operations, the Principal, Market Research is responsible for managing all aspects of quantitative market research studies from start to finish for ad hoc, omnibus and syndicated services. The Principal, Market Research must ensure that the project is aligned with the terms agreed upon by the client, where applicable, and that all aspects of the study operate smoothly and on schedule. The position will interact with the client on an ongoing basis to ensure assigned projects are progressing as per schedule, and may include people management responsibilities.

**PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- In conjunction with Principal, Business Operations and other senior team members, write research proposals in response to RFPs submitted to Metrika by pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients, ensuring that methodologies are aligned with client objectives, budgets, and timelines;
- Prepare for and attend project kick off meetings with senior managers and client to determine project objectives; interact with clients on assigned projects and on an ongoing basis; provide weekly recruitment updates directly to clients for select projects, completion status, and other project milestones; participate in client planning, strategy, consultation and review meetings and presentations (when / if required); manage client presentations as required; participate in client meetings (when / if required);
- Develop and refine questionnaires and other interview materials for both online and telephone research; ensure questionnaires are processed in a timely manner by Sr. Data Analyst; review PowerPoint templates prepared by Research Consultants / Research Analysts for each project (graphic shells); analyze data, identify and report on key findings as required; highlight noteworthy differences between respondent segments; prepare executive summary, key findings and recommendations based on client objectives;
- Liaise with all key operations team members (recruiting, database management, programming) on an ongoing basis to ensure that reliable results are delivered to the client in a timely manner, liaise with interviewers (if applicable) to ensure that the questionnaire is clearly understood by respondents and make recommendations regarding changes as needed; liaise with the programming team to ensure all survey programming is done as per expected standards; validate online survey programming via link testing as needed; prepare tab plans for Research Consultants / Research Analysts to help structure analysis; review coding of open-ended questions by Research Consultants / Research Analysts;
- Oversee project related activities of assigned staff; provide training/coaching as required; and other personnel management responsibilities;
- Assist with the development of project components including presentations, project plans, budgets and reports;
- Assist with development of new business by participating in capabilities presentations to new clients and expanding service offerings to ensure continued company growth.

**EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Minimum of a BA/BSc degree in marketing, business, or life sciences
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry or (preferably) supplier side market research as a Project Manager / Account Manager, including a minimum of 2 years in a client-facing role
- Knowledge of specialized therapeutic areas (Oncology knowledge an asset)
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of the market research environment
- Operational experience with a variety of quantitative market research methodologies
- Effective time management skills, ability to meet aggressive and changing deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Understanding of basic statistical analyses and advanced statistical analysis an asset

**MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS**:

- Fluent in English with a working knowledge of French
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills, must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage/lead multiple ongoing projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in addition to well-developed interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external clients
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Highly motivated, self-directed and capable of working independently and as part of a functional team
