**Description of Grand View Manor**:
GVM is a non-profit long term care home with 5 nursing home units, 142 residents, and over 200 staff. One

of the units is a secure unit for people with dementia and wandering behavior. We also have an attached

assisted living complex (30 units), and an enriched housing complex (40 units). GVM staffing includes

Nursing (Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Continuing Care Assistants, Auxiliaries), Food

Services, Environmental Services (Laundry, Housekeeping), Maintenance, Recreation, OT/PT/PTA and

Administrative Support.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

We have an immediate opening for a Full Time - Permanent Manager of Environmental Services &
Emergency Management Coordinator. The Manager of Environmental Services & Emergency

Management Coordinator is a member of the senior leadership team and reports directly to the Director

Of Care. The Manager of Environmental Services / Emergency Management Coordinator is responsible for

managing the environmental services department, in a unionized environment, while keeping within

departmental budgets as set out by the Department of Seniors and Long Term Care. In addition, the

Manager of Environmental Services & Emergency Management Coordinator is responsible for overseeing

safety and security systems.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITES: **

Facilitates a collaborative working environment through leadership, teamwork, innovation and

Manages department staffing requirements including hiring, disciplining, performance evaluations,

team building, and termination.
- Oversees the department schedules in Staff Schedule Care, including time off requests, vacation

time, sick time, leave of absence, medical leaves etc. Collaborates with the Scheduler.
- Manage department staff interpersonal relationships and address issues timely, consistently, and

fairly
- Inventory, supplies requisition and equipment monitoring for housekeeping and laundry as well as

the inventory and receiving for nursing supplies
- Monitor budget compliance and reporting in the Environmental Services departments
- Attending / delegating attendance of resident care conferences. Preparing/ delegating

preparation of clothing counts in advance of care conferences
- Attend organizational meetings as required and collaborate with internal departments as needed

- The lead for WCB claims and works with Dallas Mercer Consultants (DMC) for RTW plans for all

employees in GVM
- The Emergency Management Coordinator acts as Grand View Manor’s Safety Officer. As part of

this role, they are responsible for serving as Management Co-Chair on JOHSC Committee which

include preparing agendas, minutes, Tool Box talks, and other safety and educational webinars

and sessions
- The Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) works in conjunction with Fire Warden in

establishing Emergency Preparedness of facility
- Facilitates staff meetings and training sessions in Environmental Services Department
- Ensures departmental compliance with labor/safety legislation including keeping updated SDS for

the facility
- Quality assurance inspections in Environmental Services

Responsible for the Emergency Manual including policy reviews annually, as needed; scheduling

and implementing code drills annually, including a full evacuation every 3 years
- Any and all other duties requested by the CEO/Administrator and/or Director of Care.

**OUT REACH: **

Co-ordinates environmental services for tenants in Fundy Villa and Orchard View Apartments

**ABOUT YOU: **

Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in management, or a related field preferred

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in supervision and/or management

Preferred experience in Occupational Health and Safety and Emergency Management

Previous experience in Health Care, specifically in a Long Term Care setting considered an asset.

Strong computer skills

Demonstrated experience in Microsoft software, specifically Excel and Word.

Demonstrated problem-solving ability in managing issues, concerns and negotiations, and using

sound judgement in decision-making within a complex work environment

Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with residents, resident families and external

stakeholders

Resident-centeredness and a passion for working with an ageing population***
