Auditory Outreach Provincial Resource Program Assistant Manager

Through funding and collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Child Care, School District 47 has hosted the Auditory Outreach program proudly and successfully since 2003. The Auditory Outreach Program provides outreach services for students with cochlear implants (CIs), and loans of assistive listening devices to public school districts, and group 1 and 2 independent schools across the Province.

Position

Reporting to the Administrator of the Auditory Outreach Provincial Resource Program, the Auditory Outreach Assistant Manager, is responsible for the operational management of the office in addition to acquisition, preparation, distribution, and maintenance of assistive listening devices in the Program’s loan bank. As part of a professional team, the Manager will assist with the logistics of delivering support services requested by public and independent schools in accordance with goals and objectives set yearly for the Program.

Duties Include

Under the direction of the Program Administrator, is responsible for managing and processing equipment requests and inquiries.

Establishes and/or maintains files on individual students supported by the Program, and where required, follows up with schools/districts and other agencies to obtain further information required by the Program Administrator.

Reviews incoming requests for support to ensure compliance with program guidelines.

Manages and tracks incoming and outgoing shipments, equipment, and equipment requests.

Data and file management, including maintenance of the equipment database and data reporting to the Administrator.

Manages the program website and supports the Administration with marketing and communication duties.

Manages and supervises and evaluates office staff.

Manages and maintains the equipment budget.

Develops operational plans for equipment.

Develops long term strategic planning for equipment.

Manages the equipment including cataloguing, collecting, storage, processing and arranging warranty repairs.

Responsible for maintaining inventory controls for the equipment in the Program’s loan bank.

Supports the Administrator and other Program staff with preparation of educational materials for teachers and other program stakeholders.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the Program Administrator.

Qualifications and Experience

Degree in Business, Administration, or similar.

Education and/or substantial experience in working with technology.

Three years of recent experience in management.

Experienced in website design/ management, communications, and marketing.

Experience with health care or educational management will be an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the principles of supervision and leadership.

Ability to communicate clearly, to understand and follow directions, and to prioritize tasks.

Excellent communication skills, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated flexibility, initiative, and attention to detail.

Knowledge of specialized equipment and accessories to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing would be an asset.

Ability to work independently and to make decisions.

Promotes an inclusive, supportive, and positive work environment.

Ability to supervise staff including assigning tasks and monitoring the accuracy and quantity of work assignments.

Ability to accurately record all equipment transactions.

Comfortable responding to calls from provincial agencies, schools, implant centres, audiologists, and other community partners.

Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality in dealing with all matters pertaining to students, their families and Program staff.
