**Department**: Finance

**Reports to**: President and dotted line to Elmer’s Group CFO

**Purpose**: As a member of the senior management team, the core mission of the position is to manage the company’s finance and accounting function and to provide financial analytics to support business decision making. In particular, the Plant Controller needs to ensure the accuracy of all financial records and monthly reporting, manage accounts receivable collections, accounts payable, daily treasury management, tax compliance and managing the preparation of year-end financial statements.

The position has two direct reports - a junior accountant/administrative assistant and an HR administrator, who is also responsible for payroll.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure a timely and accurate close of month and year ends.
- Prepare financial statements monthly
- Responsible for daily cash flow including bank reconciliations and payments and foreign exchange transactions
- Ensure all government remittances are made on a timely basis.
- Update the weekly dashboard/ KPI’s
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring assigned assets and liabilities are fairly stated.
- Prepare and maintain annual budgets and cash flow forecasts as well as analyze cost and profit margins of operations
- Coordinate the preparation of year end financial statements with the external accountants
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and ensure there are appropriate internal controls.
- Ensure all accounting policies are in accordance with GAAP
- Work with the external accountants to ensure the company is compliant with all tax matters
- Work with external accountants and lawyers on legal/compliance matters
- Maintain accounting records for non operating companies.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly bank borrowing base reports and bank covenant reporting
- Manage the smooth operation of all cash management processes with the bank and ensure that the company always has adequate availability on its operating line.
- Provide oversight over accounts receivable collections
- Ensure that inventory is being accurately tracked
- Provide oversight over accounts payable payment cycles
- Initiate or approve bank payments
- Negotiate with insurance providers for liability and property Insurance, and ensure that a current policy is in force at all times
- Assist with budgeting and recording of plant expansion costs
- Train and mentor direct reports
- Provide back-up for team members as required

**Experiences/Skills/Training**
- Minimum 5 years of full-cycle accounting experience, including independently handling the month-end process, reporting, and preparing financial statements.
- Has worked with a large volume of data collection and reconciling variances.
- Previous experience working at a Canadian multi-million-dollar revenue company.
- CPA designated (or willing to pursue a designation)
- Solid experience using various financial tools and systems including ERP software and advanced Excel features (Pivot tables, Vlookups).

- Advanced knowledge of ERP systems and a willingness to assist in implementation
