**Job Title: Early Childhood Educator**
**Job Type: On-call**

**Position Overview**:
Responsible for meeting licensing requirements including fulfilling ratio by supporting the Kindred Parent Child Learning
Centre with supporting afterschool groups and providing child-minding for families with children. Each on-call Educator will have certification to work in early childhood education and will be accompanied by a full-time Kindred Educator. The role of an on-call Educator is to ensure they provide high quality care, within a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.
Additionally, the shifts could consist of setup take down and supporting facilitator as needed.

**Key Accountabilities (job functions include but are not limited to)**:

- Support with set-up for group and child minding;
- Check-in/out: Ensure children are signed in and signed out accordingly;
- Discuss needs and consult with families at drop off and as needed;
- Provide age-appropriate materials and experiences for children between the ages of 0 to 12 years of age while parents are attending group programing;
- Guide and redirect children in situations of conflict and safety;
- Maintain standards of Health and Safety. Examples: handwashing, diapering, health checks, feeding practices, etc.;
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism when carrying out duties and responsibilities;
- Help with general housekeeping tasks and take down duties.

**Commitment**
- Start your shift on time or notify your Supervisor of absences a minimum 24 hours in advance;
- To plan, provide and take part in play-based activities that stimulate and support children’s intellectual, physical, social, emotional and language development;
- Ensuring equipment is well maintained, age appropriate and safe to use;
- Ensuring good hygiene standards are met;
- Work as part of a team with Staff & Volunteers;
- Conduct self in a manner that is ethical, legal and that will reflect well upon the organization;
- Uphold the confidentiality policy by keeping confidential any information regarding the families.

**Time and Place**

Various shifts offered in advance on a first come first serve basis. Generally, shifts are for Friday afternoons with some evening/weekday opportunities Shifts are typically 2 to 3 hours in length. You can expect 8 to 10 hours in a month if you choose. Generally, shifts take place at Louise Dean Centre

**Qualifications**:

- Certification as an Early Childhood Educator (Level 1 or 2) required;
- Knowledge of play-based care, childhood brain development, and trauma informed approaches is an asset;
- Effective communication skills with vulnerable populations;
- Experience working with adolescent parents and their children would be an asset;
- Experience working with infants and toddlers is an asset;
- Core Brain Story Certification through Alberta Family Wellness Initiative is an asset.
