TENG Inc. is a fast growing, medium-size engineering consultant company providing engineering and project management services to multiple industry sectors. We have an immediate opening for a full time Estimator with a strong background in estimating and construction along with field / execution experience in the oil and gas industry - skilled trade person with acumen for estimating, primarily with piping, mechanical and civil work. Proficiency in project controls an asset.
- Become familiar with all aspects of the job, plans and specifications. Fully understand the scope of work including execution strategies, access plans, start-up and commissioning plans and strategies
- Develop estimates through various stages of the project cycle from early development / concept through appropriation / execution.
- Quantify commodity take-offs from drawings, sketches, interpretation, and site visits.
- Connect with various contractors, contacts and vendors for commodity pricing support and unique vendor pricing support
- Analyze subcontractor and vendor bids, if required, and incorporate those proposals into the estimate accordingly and adjusted to appropriately reflect anticipated final project costs
- Adjust the total estimate according to unit prices based on analysis of material, labor, equip, other, indirect, overhead costs
- Write, shape, and communicate the project clarifications, inclusions and exclusions into the estimate basis document including productivity and wage rate basis
- Communicate and work with Project Managers for each scope to obtain all details for accurate estimating.
- Benchmarking project specifics and overall project metrics to validate estimate accuracy and level of confidence
- Experience using common estimating reference tools including John S Page, Richardson’s and RS Means estimating guides
- Developing multiple estimates simultaneously while maintaining strict adherence to timelines
Additional Requirements:
- 5+ years Petro-chemical estimating experience within mechanical and piping projects
- MUST have some deep background in mechanical piping (ideally a former tradesmen). This is critical as we require someone who has field knowledge specifically with piping, mechanical work, civil work
- Experience with smaller project/job experience.
