**Highlights of the job**:
We are hiring 1 (one) Full Time Permanent position working out of Collingwood.

The Meter Technician performs a variety of routine skilled and technical work in the maintenance, repair and installation of electric meters and associated equipment.

**What you’d be responsible for**:

- Providing input to the Collingwood Hydro Operations plans and directions, and ensuring on-going appropriate relationships with other positions
- Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics including safety, environment and customer service
- Performing electrical and mechanical work in testing, installing, calibrating and repairing electric meters, protective relays and other related electrical instruments
- Taking readings, keeping records and performing a variety of skilled electrical and mechanical work related to the calibration, installation and maintenance of electric metering equipment
- Installing, wiring, connecting and analyzing all installations
- Maintaining electricity meter and departmental histories, receiving and issuing electricity meters and related material, maintaining accurate inventory records, operating computers for shop work, field testing and interrogation of metering installations
- Working in a safe and efficient manner including health and safety legislation/regulations, departmental policies/procedures/practices and Reg.22/04
- Investigating customer complaints, performing load surveys
- Providing back up support to other Departments, as assigned, that are in accordance with job responsibilities, and/or necessary departmental or corporate objectives
- Demonstrating a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working
- Assisting in tracking the life cycle and appropriate timing of sampling meters in accordance with the OEB and Measurement Canada
- Assisting in estimating the amount of meters required on a yearly basis along with budgeting and the procurement process

**What’s required to be successful**:

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as electrical drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Considerable knowledge of electric meters and other devices used for the measurement of electricity
- Knowledge of standard electrical safety practices and procedures applicable to work around electrical equipment including high voltage circuits
- Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform required duties.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Grade 12 Diploma or GED equivalent
- Journey Meter Technician Certificate
- Knowledge of ESA Safety Code
- Valid G Class Driver's License in good standing
- Required to work in all weather conditions (ie. Rain, snow, cold, heat, sun)
- Work will be approximately 60% outdoors and 40% in office environment
