Located in Surrey, B.C. Canada, Kadant designs and manufactures equipment for the panel and engineered wood products, pulp and paper, and sawmill industries. Providing leading edge technology and equipment to optimize fiber use for production of wood-based panels. Our products include SmartDISC stranders, SmartRING stranders, rotary debarkers, chippers, conveying/feeding equipment, and the repair and manufacture of equipment for the Pulp Mill industry.

**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
The Material Handler will be part of the store’s team managing the flow of goods within the warehouse and production. The material handler will work closely with the Production Manager, Logistics team and Warehouse Supervisor. The primary focus of the Material Handler is to ensure the flow of goods within the warehouse is efficient, timely and orderly. A typical day would go as follows:

- Monitor all staging locations and move material accordingly.
- Put away inventory according to its classification including ‘to jobs’, ‘to inventory’, ‘to inspection’ or ‘to sales order’.
- Maintain all work center inventory requirements and respond to all production requests for in-process materials.
- Conduct daily physical inventory counts and report discrepancies.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to improve the flow of materials within the warehouse.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Staging**
- Receive requests for material. Efficiently locate, verify, and move material to limit downtime in production, assembly, or warehouse operations.
- Move received material into correct staging areas including material going to jobs, sale orders, inventory, or inspection.
- Maintain in-process inventory at all work centers.

**Cycle Counting**
- Lead the daily physical inventory counts.
- Participate in the annual cycle counting program.
- Report all inventory discrepancies to warehouse supervisor.

**Inventory Management**
- Transact inventory using Epicor ERP for all movements.
- Move staged material to assigned inventory locations.
- Monitor storage space capacity and report storage issues.
- Consolidate inventory to maximize racking utilization

**Other**
- Maintain racking locations (labels, cleanliness etc)
- Promote and maintain cleanliness throughout the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks arriving and departing our facilities via forklift trucks and overhead cranes.
- Always show professionalism and courtesy.
- Through effective written and oral communication ensure that problems, both current and potential, are brought to management’s attention, with appropriate suggestions for corrective action, immediately as situation arises.
- Work closely with the warehouse supervisor to improve flow of warehouse operations.

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**:

- Minimum of 3 years experience as a material handler, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with strapping and wrapping machines/tools to package goods.
- Ability to drive forklift trucks (ticketed) and to use overhead & jib cranes.
- Experience with MRP systems and/or scanning systems.
- Have a high attention to detail to ensure all packages contain the correct product and quantity per the customer sales order.
- Understanding of manufactured parts and best practices for packing manufactured goods an asset
- Be an outstanding team player and communicator. Work well with the KCD team on achieving on time deliveries, take direction from shipping and productions teams on daily priorities, be flexible to frequent customer requests.
- Possess strong computer skills (MS Office), ERP experience being an asset.
