The Greening, Housing & Community Safety Coordinator oversees the implementation of the Housing and Small Grants Program’s goals, priorities and initiatives. The Greening, Housing & Community Safety Coordinator reviews and develops housing proposals, coordinates all housing revitalization activities, and promotes the Greening Program initiatives to ensure goals and priorities are met. Through workshops, programs, and educational resources, the coordinator will help increase local knowledge on greening and environmental issues, community safety issues and awareness of food security.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provide support resources, education, advocacy and funding for renters and landlords
- Encourage development that fits in and meets the needs of the neighbourhood and creates low income and affordable housing
- Encourage the rejuvenation of abandoned and derelict houses and buildings
- Offer support for agencies and businesses to coordinate housing resources (education, advocacy and funding) for renters, landlords and caretakers
- Research and develop new funding partnerships; maintain and enhance current partnerships as well as building new partnerships with relevant organizations and businesses.
- Work with the City of Winnipeg to plan better maintenance and redevelopment of local parks/green space.
- Continue to research feasibility of creating a multi-use urban green space that includes a greenhouse, farmers market site, urban orchard
- Look into the feasibility of developing one more community garden within the DM/SM boundaries and if it is found to be feasible work on development
- Coordinate and support local greening and environment initiatives including the community garden program, community compost program, spring clean-up, etc.
- Assist with community BBQ’s and the planning, development and implementation of summer events, including other activities such as festivals and the AGM
- Coordinate and support local greening and environment committee (committee to meet regularly - monthly or bi-monthly)
- Outreach, Network and Partner with community environmental greening and food security stakeholders including other community organisations, government representatives, local businesses and community residents; develop and maintain a contact list
- Advocate and promote active transportation through programs and educational resources
- Research and develop new funding relationships; maintain and enhance current partnerships while developing new partnerships with relevant organizations and businesses
- Develop and write funding proposals (in collaboration with the Executive Director)
- Develop fundraising initiatives throughout the fiscal year; set goals to raise additional funding to support housing and outreach programming
- Prepare and submit monthly program progress reports to the Assistant Director including statistical data and measurable outcomes
- Prepare and submit mid-term and year-end final reports to the Executive Director
- Manage and maintain program budgets; ensure copies of receipts are filed and cheque requests are submitted
- Attend scheduled organization staff meetings; conduct regular follow-up/check-in meetings with program staff
- Ensure all relevant health and safety standards are met in relation to personal safety, the safety of volunteers, and members of the public
- Adhere to the organizations respect policy and maintain a respectable and friendly work environment
- Review organization and program policies and procedures, job responsibilities and expectations; sign acknowledgement form upon review

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
