**Job description**

As a Cook, you will be responsible to prepare high-quality meals to meet the nutritional needs of the residents and guests, while consistently maintaining the relevant health, hygiene, and safety standards. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strive to exceed residents’ expectations with all aspects of food preparation and presentation as listed on the weekly menu including therapeutic diets, menu alternatives, and special events.
- Maintain appropriate food temperature and monitor risk, quality, quantity, and portion sizes.
- Assist in the menu planning, follow recipes, and provide input on resident satisfaction and feedback to the department manager.
- Assist with ordering food from approved vendors and maintaining inventory.
- Operate, sanitize, and maintain food preparation equipment and work areas.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Basic Food Safety Training/the Food Handlers Certification.
- A post-secondary culinary training and are Red Seal Certified.
- At least one year’s experience in high-volume food preparation, and thrive working in a fast-paced environment and as part of a communicative team committed to exceeding residents’ expectations and providing nutritious and satisfying meals.
- Other assets include: having CPR and Emergency First Aid certification, as well as previous experience working with seniors in a seniors’ living or long-term care environment. Advanced proficiency in the English language is required, proficiency in other languages is considered an asset.
- You have a passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services, and care.
