**Commercial Millworker (Intermediate)**

Progressive Cabinets & Millwork, a member of the Cherubini Group of Companies, has a rare opening for an experienced Commercial Millworker to join our team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Progressive Cabinets & Millwork is Atlantic Canada’s premiere supplier of multi-unit, commercial, and residential cabinetry and millwork. This is your opportunity to take the next step in your carpentry career and work on a variety of dynamic projects. You will train and grow under the expertise of our Senior Commercial Millworker with the intent to take over that role in the coming years.

**Summary**

**Job Duties**

**Machine Operation**
- Operate machinery such as saws, planers, jointers, routers, and sanders.
- Set up machines for specific tasks according to project specifications.
- Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and report any malfunctions promptly.

**Material Preparation**
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand project requirements.
- Select and prepare raw materials, ensuring they meet quality standards.
- Cut and shape components using precision tools and machinery.

**Production & Assembly**
- Assemble parts and components into finished products according to project specifications.
- Ensure the accuracy and quality of assembled pieces.
- Oversee and collaborate with other team members to achieve production goals.
- Provide input and consultation on the design and construction of custom items and items that may become standard issue.
- Cut and shape material that cannot be cut on the CNC machine. Complete edgebanding on pieces that cannot be completed by the edgebanding machine.
- Design and build jigs to assist in the production of custom and ad hoc items.
- Laminating product.

**Quality Control**
- Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
- Identify and address any defects or imperfections in the final product.
- Work with supervisors to implement quality improvement initiatives.

**Safety**
- The desire to be an active member of Progressive Cabinets & Millwork’s Health & Safety Culture.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines when operating machinery.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Participate in safety training sessions and report any safety concerns promptly.

**Collaboration**
- Collaborate with other team members, including plant foreman and supervisors, in a variety of departments to ensure seamless workflow.
- Communicate effectively to address project requirements and resolve any issues that may arise.

**Requirements**:

- Available to work 6 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday to Friday
*Some overtime will be required on Saturdays every couple of weeks
- 3 - 5 years of experience manufacturing cabinets in a similar environment.
- Strong focus on occupational health and safety.
- Exceptional organization skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to effectively read and interpret blueprints and drawings.

**Salary**: $22.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 45 per week
