**Position Overview**: The Child and Family Engagement Worker is a key role at KARA Family Resource Centre, focused on developing and delivering programs and services that support children and their families. This position involves planning, implementing, and evaluating activities and initiatives that cater to the diverse needs of the community, aligning with KARA's vision, mission, and values. The worker fosters participant engagement, connects families with resources, manages facility cleanliness and meal preparation, monitors client needs, and collaborates on data collection for program evaluation. Qualifications include a relevant certificate, experience in a related role, and strong interpersonal skills. This role offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children and families, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. Primary responsibilities include:
1. **Program Development & Implementation**:Conduct comprehensive research to identify emerging community trends, informing the development of programs that meet the current and anticipated needs of children and families. Plan and implement daily activities, ensuring alignment with agency standards and provincial guidelines, incorporating effective approaches for programs and events.

2. **Participant Engagement**:Create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere to foster active participation and deepen connections among children and families. Integrate KARA's playful and strength-based methodology into program activities, leveraging participants' unique strengths for enhanced effectiveness. Engage families from diverse backgrounds through meaningful conversations, focusing on relationship building and understanding social practices to promote community and inclusivity.

3. **Educational and Supportive Resources**: Facilitate connections between families and essential resources related to early childhood development, parenting support, and community-based programs in Edmonton. Foster relationships with local organizations to provide wraparound services, ensuring families receive compassionate and comprehensive support tailored to their diverse needs.

4. **Facility Support**:Establish and maintain play areas with a focus on cleanliness and order. Take initiative to independently create and manage a cleaning schedule, ensuring routine upkeep of all areas. Acquire and maintain knowledge of offsite and partner location standards, fostering functional relationships with site contacts to ensure cleaning practices consistently meet or exceed expectations.

5. **Snack & Meal Support**:Prepare nutritious snacks and meals for program participants, creatively adapting menu planning within budget constraints and varying food bank resources. Manage supply shopping in coordination with the program team and collaborate with staff involved in food bank visits.

6. **Client Monitoring & Reporting**:Maintain awareness of client needs and promptly report concerns to the Program Manager. Document instances of suspected abuse, illness, or accidents while adhering to "Duty to Report" guidelines. Proactively seek training opportunities to stay current and expand knowledge in trauma-informed practices, psychological health and safety, and confidentiality, ensuring a compassionate and informed approach to client care.

7. **Data Reporting**:Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of program-related expenditures, allocating dedicated time for timely completion as required by the Program Manager.

8. **Program Evaluation**: Implement comprehensive evaluation strategies, including pre-evaluations, ongoing documentation, and post-evaluations, to guide program direction and capture outcomes. Analyze evaluation data to refine program development, enhancing current initiatives and influencing future programming decisions.

9. **Professional Development and Collaboration**:Adhere to KARA's Mission, Vision, and Values in all interactions and duties, incorporating trauma-informed care and psychological health and safety principles. Attend meetings as needed, liaise with Family Resource Program (FRP) services, community agencies, and resource persons, while fostering positive working relationships with team members, community partners, and stakeholders.

10. **Adherence to Policies and Procedures**:Follow instructions from the Program Manager, Assistant Program Manager, Executive Director, or their designated representatives.
