Summary

Performs all tasks required to install bulkheads, ceilings, doors, windows, stairs and furniture in various types of vessels or other marine structures. The unfinished structure of a vessel is finished into living, work and leisure/recreation spaces by the Joiners.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities - **other duties may be assigned as required. **Work assignments may vary and may include the following duties depending upon assignment.**
- Installs or assists in the installation and/or construction of all major ship outfitting systems, including bulkheads, ceiling panels, doors and trim, windows, furniture, handrails, floating floors and raised computer floors, sheet metal sheathing and cladding etc. and any other related construction activities assigned by the Supervisor.
- Uses appropriate blueprints to layout and make cuts in metal bulkhead and ceiling panels to prep for electrical fittings and other components.
- Installs or assists in caulking of windows, doors, wash basins and toilet and shower modules. Installs or assists in the installation of adhesives, tiles and carpeting of compartments.
- Reviews dimensional compartment blueprints and installation detail drawings and locates and installs systems, furniture and equipment in accordance with the information provided.
- Adheres to all Safety rules and regulations and uses tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The requirements listed below are representative of the **preferred** knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

1. High School Diploma.

2. Trade school diploma in carpentry or sheet metal fabrication.

3. Experience using a variety of hand power tools.

4. 4 to 6 years of ship joiner or related construction experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Familiarity with blueprints and drawings.

2. Ability to read and interpret documents and instructions.

3. Ability to pass a CWB all position tack welding ticket test on mild and SS steel.

4. Ability to take directions and follow instructions.

5. Ability to work as an individual (unassisted) and/or as part of a team.

6. Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.

7. Ability to work on scaffolding, ladders and in confined spaces.

8. Ability to work a variety of assignments and locations on a daily or hourly basis.

9. Strong record of reliability and dependability.

Preferred

1. Knowledge of welding and electrical is helpful.

2. Carpentry, sheet metal and welding skills

3. 6 Years Shipyard experience in Joiner work.

6. Ability to work at heights and in outside weather conditions.

**Work Environment**

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is sometimes exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Pay: $47.89 per hour
