The Vancouver Youth Connect team is a dedicated group of social workers who support complex youth aged 13-18 engaged in high-risk behaviors, many of whom navigate unstable living situations or lack of family support. With six case-carrying social workers—three focusing on Indigenous youth—and a Community Development Social Worker, the team has been making a difference since 2017. They collaborate with a network of professionals, including those in mental health, youth justice, and Indigenous communities, to provide holistic, outreach-based support. Together, they help youth reduce risks and transition toward independence, all within a close-knit, supportive team environment.

**The Role**
As a Team Leader, you guide and inspire a dedicated team, providing leadership, support, and supervision to ensure high-quality services for youth. You oversee programs and budgets, offer guidance on policies and standards, and build strong relationships with community partners and Indigenous communities to enhance service delivery. **Qualifications**:
Education and Experience Requirements

Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred **OR **expanded credentials and experience requirements
**1. Preferred Credentials**:

- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care **OR** Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare **OR**:

- In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)** OR**:

- **NOTE**: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- At least 2 years of job-specific work experience.
- Experience supervising staff.

**2. Expanded Credentials**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field **OR** Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field **OR** Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field **AFTER **the completion of an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- **NOTE**: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Minimum 1 year of related work experience and at least 2 years of job-specific work experience OR At least 3 years of job-specific work experience.
- Experience supervising staff.

**Human Services fields include**: Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.

Preference will be given to applicants with the following:

- Preferred education credentials AND/OR in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

- Currently holds or is immediately eligible for full delegation (C6) under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
- Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.
- Three (3) or more years job specific experience in child protection,
- Minimum three (3) months of experience supervising staff in the last two (2) years.
- Experience providing service to vulnerable and high-intensity youth.
- Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
