Overview:
**Responsibilities**:

- Provide direct H&S coaching and guidance to the operational site management, supervisors and workers to ensure OHS, country and Group expectations are met.
- Working with the site Field Safety Advisors, assists in the facilitation and coordination of training needs and development of H&S training programs.
- Perform risk assessments and develop safe work procedures for regional and country purposes.
- Assists with facilitation of serious investigations including; recordable injuries, near misses, critical incidents etc.
- Assist to accompany and comply with OHS inspections and potential orders.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct COR audits to ensure annual rebate for the region.
- Support the regional operations in preparation for health and safety management system audits (HSMS) and develop action plans for continuous improvement.
- Participate in North America HSMS audits identifying compliance gaps against Group health and safety standards
- Support HS manager and regional operations in development and implementation of H&S priorities, guidance documents, key lessons learned, best practices, policies etc.
- Support and guide the regional operations in claim management and injury prevention.
- Support HS Manager in implementation of both country and regional HSE-IP objectives.
- Assist with utilization of internal reporting tools to meet country reporting requirements.
- Support regional operations in implementation and maintenance of programs such as Sitedocs, Icare, Avetta, etc.
- Assist to develop and share regional communications to all stakeholders including; key lessons, best practices, alerts, KPIs etc.

**Relationships with Other Jobs**:

- Functions as a peer to site management and as a N-1 to the Cement Plant Manager
- Works with and coaches site management and plant/site employees on implementation of Health and Safety Management Systems, Processes and Training.
- Engaging, coaching and influencing all levels of employees at the sites.
- Works with H&S Manager in determining Business Unit/Geographic priorities and developing policies/procedures
- Interface with peers in other Business Market Areas in the development of programs and systems.
- Supports embedded site field safety advisor at Exshaw and Richmond Cement Plants.

- Grinding Plants - Seattle and Kamloops
- Terminals - WCAN and PNW

**Specific Accountabilities**:

- Assure utilization of established systems by the sites to assist in minimizing accidents.
- Assure timely and effective follow up of Business Unit and site safety activities.
- Assure site compliance with Lafarge Group Health and Safety Policies, Critical Controls, H&S processes and initiatives and Provincial/Federal regulations.
- Up-to-date, accurate and complete KPI tracking.
- Effective safety, health and loss control related support to site and Business Unit management.

Qualifications:

- Experience: 3-5 years working experience as a health & safety professional. Heavy industry or construction is preferred.
- Certification: NCSO or CSO. Post-secondary diplomas or CRSP designation are assets.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills including collaboration, negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills
- Familiarity with applicable legislation, codes, standards and best practices in occupational health and safety. OSHA knowledge is an asset.
- Computer skills are required: Word, spreadsheets and PowerPoint.
- COR audit experience.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of the organization
- Valid driver's license
- Must be able to travel with in Canada and the United States
