Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a **Contracts and Procurement Specialist **in our Power Solutions group. Reporting to the **Supply Chain Manager **, this position is located in our Vancouver office. This role has overall responsibility for the well-timed and accurate execution of project procurement and sub-contracting that ensures the completion of key milestones/objectives, minimizes commercial risks, emphasizes safety, enhances competitive advantage and meets customer expectations, always in strict accordance with Wood Supply Chain Code of Business conduct. Salary range - $95k-$120k

- Accountable for leading medium to high-complexity procurement and contracting processes
- Managing, coordinating, and administrating contracts and procurement to ensure cost and schedule compliance
- Lead junior staff and work with the supply chain group as well as project staff to develop and implement the contract strategy for procurement, construction, and service contracts
- Effectively delivering sourcing activities following established processes and quality requirements so that projects and ongoing operations are delivered safely, with quality, within budget, and on time
- Establish good working relationships with the project team and the owner
- Assist with preparing, issuing, and obtaining approval of the tenderer list for the specific contract packages
- Prepare tender documents from generic templates, meeting the project and individual package requirements and launch the Requests for Tender
- Manage all clarifications and pre-close correspondence
- Receive tenders, proceed with the analysis and manage internal and external communication
- Support the bid evaluation process with the project manager and owner when reviewing proposals and recommending the award
- Attend negotiations with selected tenderers and assist in preparing commercial recommendations for contract award
- Conform and issue contract documents for signature
- Analyze compensation requests and progress payments
- Strictly control modifications to the contracts, negotiating requests for modifications, claims, and litigation, if necessary
- Manage invoicing and payment cycles
- Coordinate the close-out of contracts, including submittal of deliverables and performance assessment
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant discipline
- Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in procurement and construction contract administration
- Experience in contract administration for major civil or utilities or industrial projects, preferably with construction site experience
- Experience in categories for major civil infrastructure or industrial or Power Transmission & Distribution Capital Projects that are similar to BC Hydro, is desirable
- Proactive, confident approach to contract administration
- Certificate or additional education in Supply Chain Management, an asset
- Excellent proficiency in the English language (spoken and written)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Highly developed time management and organizational skills
- Understanding of contract styles such as lump sum, unit rate, etc.
- Proven track record of maintaining high-quality standards while working within tight deadlines
- Team spirit and ability to find solutions to work-related problems
