Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

**Position Overview**:
The role of the Virtual Emergency Care and Transfer Resource (VECTRS) Interfacility Transport Coordinator is to receive and process requests for medical assistance and medical transportation. The Interfacility Transport Coordinator will manage incoming calls, prioritize, coordinate and work with dispatch agencies on the medical response and transportation needs. The Interfacility Transport Coordinator will obtain the necessary caller information; communicate the information to the VECTRS team and dispatch information using a variety of digital tools and resources. The Interfacility Transport Coordinator must be able to interact with the medical personnel, and other public safety agencies. Primary responsibilities relate to all applicable regulations/policies within VECTRS and Shared Health. The Interfacility Transport Coordinator will conduct themselves in a non-judgmental, and professional manner.

As the **Interfacility Transport Coordinator **you will:

- Answer and process calls for service and requests for assistance, obtain essential information from callers and triage the nature of injuries and illnesses.
- Monitor and operate communication systems to ensure efficient and essential communications are maintained and documented.
- Receive, record, and maintain support information regarding each case.
- Answer and process low acuity calls for service and administrative requests for assistance, enter the information into the computer system as required; refer callers to appropriate clinical personnel as appropriate.
- Advise law enforcement and other agencies of incidents and situations requiring their involvement.
- Receive, and provide information from law enforcement, hospitals and other agencies and institutions as required to the VECTRS Team.
- Effectively communicate with co-workers to promote efficient departmental, program, and regional operations and promote high-morale.
- Perform other related duties, as required.

**Environmental responsibility**
- Provide a safe environment by ensuring adherence to Workplace Safety and Health Regulations and Policies.
- Demonstrate understanding of role and responsibilities in fire prevention and disaster preparedness and participate in safety and health programs including the Fire, Disaster and Evacuation plan.

**Education/in-service/professional development**
- Collaborate with in-service education programs.
- Serve as a resource to staff and other health care professionals.
- Maintain and update professional skills through continuing education programs, literature reviews, interest groups, and lectures.

**Committee participation**
- Participate on appropriate committees as requested.
- Participate in regular staff meetings.

**Experience**:

- Experience in a call center environment is highly-desirable.
- Knowledge or experience working with Emergency Department Information Systems (EDIS) is an asset.

**Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)**:

- Degree/Diploma in a relevant health care or health sciences related discipline from an accredited education institution.
- A combination of education training and/or experience may be considered.

**Certification/Licensure/Registration**:

- Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Demonstrated knowledge of Emergency Medical Service/medical transportation communication and operations is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to multi-task.
