With a position at Backman Vidcom, you join an experienced team that provides cutting-edge solutions for world-class audiovisual projects. Backman Vidcom is made up of passionate, super-smart, energetic people, who will challenge and inspire you every day. We are looking for a Installation Technician to work with our team in Halifax to install and configure solutions for clients from across the region.

**Responsibilities**:
**1.** Perform installation tasks for audiovisual projects including but not limited to: pulling of electronic cable, installing connectors, mounting equipment, metal fabrication and basic programming, rack wiring

**2.** Projector and screen support structure installations

**3.** Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints

**4.** Responsible for the operation of cable testing equipment

**5.** Responsible for testing equipment to ensure it’s functioning as intended

**6.** Meet all installation deadlines

**7.** Responsible for accurate tracking on time sheets, service/installation tickets and inventory items

**8.** Responsible for ensuring time budget estimates are met and any overage/underage communicated/explained to the project manager

**Qualifications**:
1. Minimum of 2 years of audiovisual installation experience preferred

2. Formal education in Electronics or related field preferred

3. Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent

4. External training desired: a. Infocomm CTS General; b. NS Dept of Labour Communications Cabling Specialist; c. Extron AV Associate; d. Crestron training; e. Other vendor training; f. First Aid (we provide lots of training for our team)

5. Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record

6. Fall Arrest, Lift ticket, confined spaces, WHMIS,

7. Familiarity with modern construction techniques and processes

**Travel**:Some out of town travel required.

**Additional Skills and Abilities**:
1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

2. Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well-organized.

3. Superior customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers.

4. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

5. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse groups.

6. Proficiency in the use of personal computers including such programs as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and MS Office 365.

7. Ability to demonstrate planning, organizing and implementing skills which allow the successful completion of a project by a specific due date.

8. Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations.

9. Must be able to read and effectively interpret general business documentation.

**Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements**:
1. Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds, be able to climb ladders up to 20 feet tall and be able to work in small spaces and on uneven surfaces. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

2. Some light lifting of objects is required.

3. Reaching, grasping and carrying activities also required.

4. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

**6.** Review equipment list and job status with customers upon delivery

**7.** Full compliance with company's and customer's safety program

**8.** Operation of hand and power tools

**9.** Communicate daily job site status to Project Manager or site supervisor and Scheduling Coordinator

**13.** Responsible for the care and safety of any vehicle under installation supervisor’s control including up to date safety and log books.

**14.** Other duties as required or assigned by company management

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
