We are looking for an Intermediate Scientist to add to our Saskatoon office working in the area of Mine Water Treatment. You will analyze and interpret data and report on our pilot and full-scale mine water treatment projects. These projects currently include constructed wetland treatment systems, gravel bed bioreactors, in situ treatment (pit lakes, mine pools), saturated rock fills, and improvements of active biological systems. Maven operates a one-of-a-kind water treatment pilot facility and laboratory in Saskatoon. This allows us to advance emerging technologies and develop and optimize existing technologies in site-specific ways. This expands to our proprietary on-site mobile pilot-scale units used at mine sites across Canada. As part of our services, we also do traditional desktop consulting, including regulatory assistance and developing technology readiness assessments and maturation plans.

**What you will be doing**
As a consulting firm, our team is focused on helping our clients solve problems, make strategic decisions, anticipate needs, and achieve their goals. This requires us to take a collaborative client-centric approach to how we do science at Maven.
This role focuses on analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data from our pilot
- and full-scale water treatment systems for mining operations. This includes interpretation and communication of data in the following ways:
- Graphical representation.
- Performing calculations related to chemistry and water quality.
- Preparing scientific presentations.
- Writing and reviewing technical reports and memos.
To successfully contribute to these consulting activities, things you will commonly be doing include:
- Contribute to proposals and work plans.
- Work as a collaborative team member on analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data from our pilot
- and full-scale water treatment systems for mining operations.
- Review and compile information from other consulting reports and regulatory documents.
- Contribute to sampling programs, sometimes assisting junior team members with hands-on sampling of systems in our pilot facilities.
- Create, scale, and improve processes and operations.
- Write technical descriptions of scientific and engineering processes geared for target audiences.
**Your Experience and Qualifications**
- You have a minimum of a MSc + 2 years of experience.
- Your education and work experience are a scientific field such as biogeochemistry, geochemistry, geology, water quality, environmental sciences, biology, microbiology, chemistry, chemical engineering, process engineering, or a similar field.
- Advanced use of spreadsheets and other data analysis and visualization methods.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong technical writing and reporting skills.
- Experienced working in an MS Office environment, including Teams, SharePoint, and collaborative functions in MS Word.
- Actively working towards a relevant professional designation (e.g., PChem, PEng, RPBio, PBiol, EP).
**The following experience or abilities are not necessary but could be an asset**:
- Interpretation of microbial analyses involved in biogeochemical processes.
- Advanced data management and visualization, such as R, SAS, or Python.
- Experience with fieldwork, such as water sampling.
