The International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) offers a transformative global experience for youth in Canada (ages 18-30) who identify as Indigenous, Racialized, Living with Disabilities and/or 2SLGBTQIA+ and are experiencing barriers to employment. The program includes a 4 to 6-month internship abroad in Colombia (Bogota, Medellin, Cali), Ghana, Togo, or Sierra Leone. Projects cover areas like environmental sustainability, mental health, education, and more. Participants develop transferable skills, connect with local leaders, and engage in international cooperation work. Back in Canada, YMCA Employment Services will support interns on their job search or educational journey.

The Director International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) is a dynamic position reporting to the General Manager, International Program. This role entails overseeing all aspects of the internship program, from its planning to evaluation, ensuring compliance with funder’s and organizational financial and operational standards, contractual obligations. Acting as a liaison between the YMCA of GTA and international partner YMCAs, the Director guides the internship cycle, supports logistics, facilitates communication, and fosters strategic relationships to maximize program impact and effectiveness. They drive recruitment, selection, and pre-departure processes, coordinate marketing and communications efforts, and provide overall supervision and support for interns both in Canada and abroad.

**In this role, you will**:

- Ensure compliance with funders’ financial standards and the fulfilment of contractual responsibilities
- Develop agreements with host partner organizations
- Liaising with partners in Canada and international hosting partner YMCAs through all the steps of the internship cycle from the planning of the internships to the implementation and evaluation.
- Support logistics and participate in the meetings of the Advisory Committee to the IYIP and Community of Practice.
- Guide the marketing and communications strategy and promotion of the internship opportunities in coordination with the Marcomms team
- Develop and deliver the recruitment, selection, pre-departure and re-integration program
- Supervise and facilitate logistics for interns in Canada and overseas (e.g. organize transportation, obtain visas and other immigration information, complete recruitment paperwork, etc.)
- Support public engagement and innovative activities related to the internship program
- Lead the pre-employment phase of the program upon the interns return to Canada
- Establish and foster relationships with intern families, communities, alumni and volunteers
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with organizations and groups of the communities the project intends to engage
- Ensure due diligence and maintain risk management frameworks related to the health and safety of interns participating in programs
- Provide input towards the development of policies and procedures related to the IYIP program
- Work closely with other members of the IYIP team and finance team on financial management, reporting and monitoring of program budget, and any related requests from the funder.
- Complete program activities according to the intended outcomes, budget and timelines established
- Prepare internal and external narrative reports for funder
- Liaise with consultants, advisors, and volunteers, as required
- Participate in IYIP monthly Programming Committee meetings with other implementing organizations and funder
- Develop and establish information and administrative systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned

**You bring**:

- University degree in a related field or equivalent experience (international development, human resources, management, project management, education, social work, etc.)
- Conversational Spanish is a minimum requirement
- 1-3 years of related experience with program development and coordination, including demonstrated logistics management, budgeting, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting for results
- Experience coordinating international youth programming, including proven ability to develop and facilitate training workshops
- Strong financial management and report writing skills
- Experience supervising is an asset
- Experience working in partnership or collaboration with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent understanding of diversity, inclusion and equity including the sensitivity to identify and ability to address barriers experienced by youth who identify as Indigenous, Racialized, Living with Disabilities and/or 2SLGBT
