Hair/barbering Instructor

**Summary**: This is an instructor position. You will be training a class of trainee Barbers in the Barbering skills to prepare trainees for certification, and employment. The Barbering instructor will follow a curriculum that meets the educational objectives of the Academy. Some classes are offered on the weekend as well as during the week. We are looking for someone who is flexible to work on the weekends when needed.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Prepare daily lesson plans and deliver training that adheres to the curriculum of the Barbering program.
- Evaluate trainee progress and assist trainees who need additional support to achieve success.
- Assist with classroom inventory.
- Complete daily paperwork using various computer programs.
- Work under the direction of the lead instructor and in cooperation with instructors and teaching assistants.
- Confirm the teaching schedule as determined by the Education Administration Manager.
- Assist in the preparation of class material at a time convenient and suitable for him/her off campus. Assist in the preparation of notes, handouts, tests, exams and other materials as required for successful instruction of the class
- Supervise students in on-site practicum.

- **Education/Experience**: Preferred: 1 - 3 years in the Barbering and Hair industry; facilitation experience.
- **Required**: 1 year in the industry; completion of a formal training program related to the Barbering; memberships in good standing with the applicable provincial association or regulatory body.
- **Work Environment**: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs/12kg.
- The employee must be comfortable sharing their personal space with colleagues and students.
