The **Wellbeing Specialist is a full-time continuing **position tasked with promoting the wellbeing of all University employees by providing leadership and expertise in the development, implementation and administration of programs and initiatives that contribute to a healthy workplace.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provides leadership and expertise in the development and implementation of mental health initiatives.
- Provides advice and guidance in addressing/responding to mental health issues and concerns.
- Establishes the overall framework for disability management (short-term and long-term) in accordance with legislation and regulations, collective agreements, and University policies.
- Provides effective and pro-active case management of complex attendance management issues, disability management cases, return to work programs, accommodation plans.
- Ensures employees provide appropriate medical information to support medical absences. Consults on developing attendance monitoring procedures and supports Labour Relations in addressing non-culpable absenteeism.
- Responsible for workplace accommodation and return to work matters in accordance with University policy and provincial legislation.
- Consults with managers and members of the HR department when assessing and developing effective accommodations.
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with external organizations and experts to ensure ongoing awareness of the latest trends and developments in accommodations.
- Responsible for the administration of the ergonomics program. Conducts ergonomic assessments of workstations and recommends actions.
- Responsible for training the Wellbeing Assistant, assigning/evaluating work, and performance management.

**Qualifications**:

- A bachelor’s degree in a health-related field (e.g., nursing, social work, occupational therapy) or a diploma in Disability Management or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ recent and related experience with a focus in organizational wellness and disability management.
- Experience in administering return to work programs in a multi-union environment or complex public sector organizations.
- Some direct experience in training in the relevant areas would be a definite asset.
- Understanding of medical terminology is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of ergonomics.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and maintain effective relationships with managers, employees, union representatives and external stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with advanced problem-solving skills to develop creative and innovative solutions for resolving complex issues.
- Knowledge of all relevant Human Rights, health, and privacy legislation and applicable collective agreements.
- Ability to exercise good judgement, and to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to train, motivate, coach and evaluate direct reports.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Adaptable and flexible in responding to organizational change.
- Ability to work independently and make a positive contribution within a team environment.

**An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.**

**Condition(s) of Employment**:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

**The salary range for this position will be from $78,546 to $99,499 annually.** Salary upon appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
