SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

Person who evaluates a person’s nutritional status and determines and implements intervention strategies aimed at adapting nutrition based on the person’s needs to maintain or restore health. She/he participates in clinical teaching.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

Wiichihituwin offers a corridor of services for specialized treatment and medical appointments for beneficiaries of the JBNQA. Beneficiaries are staying at the Espresso Hotel while in Montreal.
- Assess the nutritional needs of patients and makes recommendations;
- Ensure continuity of nutritional care and maintain adequate collaboration and communication with healthcare team for a seamless transition upon return to community;
- Liaise with nutritionists on territory and from Montreal Hospitals;
- Provide nutritional support and counselling to patient with diabetes and other chronic diseases such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, CKD, NAFLD, CAD, obesity;
- Work with Wiichihituwin food services to provide healthy and adapted meals to chronic patients staying at the hotel;
- Provide statistics and produces various types of reports;
- Ensure progress notes and other documentation are done after the service has been provided;
- Provide support, training or guidance within the framework of her/his functions to other staff members, health care providers, or to those supporting the participants’ quality of life;
- Carry out her/his role within the policy principles and guidelines of Miyupimaatisiiun paradigms and practices;
- Respect the practices, conduct, confidentiality and ethics expected of employees towards users, visitors and other employees;
- Ensure her/his own responsibilities according to the organization’s programs, procedures and program manuals, and policies regarding access to patient files, in order to provide quality services;
- Ensure implementation of the policies, standards, and quality assurance program of the professional practice and clinical activities;
- Carry out other related tasks usually assigned to a Dietician - Nutritionist upon the request of her/his supervisor.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition.
- Member of the _Ordre des diététistes nutritionnistes du Québec _

**Experience**:

- Two years of relevant experience is an asset;
- Experience with First Nation or with cross-cultural work is an asset.

Knowledge and Abilities:

- Good knowledge of nutrition theory and practise, current trends, and the MSSS Network and regulations;
- Varied clinical skills: community health, home care, geriatric, pediatric;
- Knowledge of Cree culture and language, and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
- Knowledge of Eenou/Eeyou Miyupimaatisiiun healing practices and paradigms is an asset;
- Good professional record in nutrition counseling and prevention/promotion programming;
- Excellent interpersonal and listening communication, and teamwork skills;
- Interest in sharing knowledge and training with other workers;
- Autonomous, flexible and discrete;
- Excellent critical thinking, synthesis, organizational and decision-making skills.

**Language**:

- Fluent in English;
- Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.

Other:

- Willing to travel occasionally to other communities;
- Opportunity to work occasionally outside normal working hours to implement nutrition workshops and activities.

All JBNQA Cree beneficiary hired to work for the Wiichihiituwin direction either at the Montreal or the Val d’Or or the Chibougamau point of service are entitled to the following benefits:

- Isolation premium based on their affiliate community
- Retention premium (if applicable)
- Reimbursement of the moving and storage fees
- Three (3) or four (4) return flights per year for the employee and their dependants to go back to their affiliate community via CBHSSJB’s charters, according to the collective agreement.

Pay: $27.62-$48.94 per hour

Expected hours: 35.00 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
