MacEwan University is seeking a Furniture Planner for a full-time continuing opportunity with the Infrastructure, Planning and Management department.

The Furniture Planner is responsible for end-to-end planning, designing, and coordination of furnishings within the interiors of the University’s buildings. This position creates conceptual designs and specifications and recommends furniture solutions in alignment with MacEwan’s infrastructure plan and established standards for major capital projects, renovations, and expansion. This includes managing inventory, providing detailed cost estimates for operating and capital budgets, wayfinding, furniture ordering, receiving, installation, storage and disposition for individual and department campus moves.

Key responsibilities include:

- Supporting the Project Managers on existing and upcoming projects for furniture-related needs, including making recommendations for furniture selection (or redeployment of existing assets), performing test fits, and supporting end-to-end process for ordering, scheduling, installation through to commissioning.
- Collaborating with external project team members such as architects and designers to meet the architectural vision while aligning with internal standards and processes.
- Supporting the Senior Facilities Planner with furniture-related projects, re-stacks, and occupancy planning.
- Ensuring compliance with building codes and other regulations related to fire safety and accessibility that impact placement and selection of furniture.
- Consulting with the client department to review details of furniture requests and determine the best possible solution to meet their needs and requirements.
- Overseeing MacEwan’s furniture assets - tracking, monitoring, and maintaining furniture inventories and supporting documentation.
- Developing, updating, and maintaining a MacEwan Furniture Surplus Catalog/database.
- Conducting building audits to verify employee locations, furniture layouts, equipment types, and locations; updates Facilities Management System (FiMS) floor plans to match existing conditions.
- Initiating, scheduling, coordinating, and leading the logistics for campus move projects.
- Providing in-house architectural AutoCad design and support.
- Graphically illustrating furniture layouts and specifications using AutoCAD for design test-fits and area and building code compliance verification.

**SKILLS**:

- Technical knowledge of furniture systems, signage and way finding systems.
