**Controller**

**OBJECTIVE**:
As a Controller at FEIA, you will engage in the day-to-day operations of our fast-paced school environment. Leading our financial team as well as our school principal to assist the school in decision-making.

We are looking for an Accounting professional to join our organization and lead the Accounting & Finance function of the company. Responsibility for the accurate completion of a range of general accounting tasks, including payroll, accounts payable, credit, costing and banking. You will also be instrumental in promoting an atmosphere of fiscal responsibility, collaboration and best practices across the organization.

This is a great opportunity to make your mark reporting directly to the President / CEO. Your success will be measured by assessing the accuracy and efficiency of reporting, interpretation and communication of financial data.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Take the school to the next level through your knowledge, skills and financial management expertise
- Bring solutions to the table by recommending and/or performing actions to resolve discrepancies.
- Lead FEIA in compliance with all government legislation related to payroll and maintain all related employee and company records as required.
- Oversee the process of bi-weekly payroll with excellent knowledge of legislative payroll requirements and payroll accounting for 70+ employees
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements
- Post journal entries, Balance sheets and P&L statements
- Balance and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts
- Prepare miscellaneous financial reports as may be required by management
- Take the lead on all financial audits and assist work with auditors on annual audited statements.
- Be responsible for all accounts payable/accounts receivable.
- Bank reconciliation and substantial invoice payments to ensure cash is available and distributed as required

**PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**:

- Accounting designation an asset
- 2 years experience in a similar role
- Cost Accounting background required
- Preparing monthly financial statements knowledge and skills.
- Previous experience in QuickBooks
- Knowledge of Canadian GAAP
- Ability to work well independently and support various levels of leadership, management and departments.
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Strong work ethic, diligence, and commitment
- Proven track record of strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with the ability to meet tight deadlines and complete multiple assignments
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
