The Traffic Engineering Branch is responsible for managing and directing the installation, maintenance and operation of all traffic control devices including traffic signals, signs, pedestrian crosswalks, and traffic guardrails. The branch is also responsible for establishing standards and policies related to traffic control devices, conducting speed limit reviews, monitoring traffic volumes, maintaining a provincial database of traffic collisions, and providing engineering expertise related to traffic control and road safety.

Conditions of Employment:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds as required through the course of the day, and physically able to perform duties that include prolonged sitting and standing for extended periods of time.

Qualifications:
Essential:

- Civil Engineering Technology diploma OR Civil Technician Certificate OR Electronics Engineering Technology Diploma from a recognized institute of technology OR completion of Manitoba Infrastructure Level 2 training program (or working towards) OR suitable combination of relevant education and extensive work-related experience may be considered.
- Experience with database management and spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of Occupational, Safety, Health and risk Management policies and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with navigational directions, reading a map and using mapping software.
- Knowledge of basic mathematical skills in routine data analysis and interpretation.
- Experienced and proficient with Microsoft Office Software package (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to demonstrate a high degree of initiative, independence, judgement and maintain confidentiality.

**Duties**:

- The Traffic Collision Analyst collects and enters collision data into the Department's traffic collision database, which is essential to the Branch's mandate of safety on the provincial highway system. Additionally, the Traffic Collision Analyst compiles and summarizes collision data in response to requests from within and outside of the department. The Traffic Collision Analyst works independently and also provides technical direction to the Collision Data Technicians, including training, assigning work and checking accuracy of work. The Traffic Collison Analyst works in a specialized technical environment and performs various database management duties and produces summary reports, while adhering to department standards and policies._
