To be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications:

- must have minimum grade 12 and be returning to a post-secondary school
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience working with children and the public
- Must have or be willing to obtain HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child DevelopmentMust be willing to receive training for ePACT and Legend software
- Interest in Art History or Studio Art an asset
- Standard First Aid, CPR/AED an asset
- Excellent public relations skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision

**Duties**:

- Research and become familiar with a range of artistic techniques;
- Develop age and level appropriate summer art class lesson plans, art activities, demonstrations and workshops both on and off site as advised by the Education Department;
- Develop related activities, games, and multi-disciplinary learning experiences;
- Develop weekly and daily schedules of lessons plans and art activities that reflect time-required, volunteer parameters, demonstrations and explanations, and materials required; or pivot to creating and assembling art kits if necessary;
- Preparation of the studio and scheduling of classes, programs and events or video tutorials;
- Track and monitor attendance, incidents and accidents using ePACT;
- Deliver summer art class lesson plans, art activitiesdemonstrations and, workshops both on and off site as scheduled;
- Supervise groups of children;
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures
- Budget, purchase, and track inventory of materials and supplies under guidance and approval of the Education Department;
- Compile feedback through formal and informal evaluation;
- Complete a comprehensive report outlining successes, challenges, weekly summaries, and future recommendations;
- Perform other related duties as assigned and directed by the Education Department..

Summer Assistant Art Instructor: Salary rate is $16.00 per hour as per Schedule "A" of the collective agreement. This is a 16-week contract from May 8 to August 25, 2023. Scheduled 7-hour work shifts which will include weekends and alternate shift hours. May be required to work overtime.
