**Culinary Coordinator**
- Full Time Contract (end date of approx. January 9, 2024 with the Possibility of Extension)_

Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre (Cornerstone) has an exciting opportunity in which you get to work within the Residential Services team to ensure a strong, innovative support system is in place for women and children impacted by family violence in Northumberland County.

**What can I expect to do in this role?**
- Plan menus that meet program guidelines
- Cook and prepare meals
- Maintain food inventories
- Maintain food stock levels and rotation system
- Oversee kitchen chores and duties
- Provide clients and new staff with basic instruction regarding safe food handling practices
- Ensure basic health and safety and safe food handling procedures are followed
- Engage with clients to demonstrate proper use of kitchen equipment (e.g. dish sterilizer)
- Engage with clients to identify dietary restrictions, needs, food allergies and sensitivities, and food preferences
- Provide basic cooking classes to clients on an as needed basis
- Clean resident kitchen twice daily in coordination with the cleaners
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of food storage areas
- Complete regular checks of safety equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas in the shelter
- Coordinate with designated external contractors and suppliers to support the smooth running of the shelter and physical plant
- Contribute to maintaining the cleanliness of the building and property

**What do I need for this role?**
- Food preparation experience
- Knowledge of nutrition and all relevant health and safety legislation
- Sensitivity of issues related to family violence
- Superior organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work co-operatively as part of a team
