Physiotherapy VH - Burns and Oncology IP/OP

The Physiotherapist will provide Physiotherapy Inpatient (IP) and Outpatient (OP) services to the Burns (IP/OP) and Oncology (IP) departments. Specifically, in Burns Outpatients, the successful physiotherapist will have responsibilities with:

- Burn / wound evaluation in terms of depth of injury / stage of healing
- Education re: skin care, especially sun protection post burn, appropriate care of skin grafts and associated complications
- Identification of risk factors for development of hypertrophic scars and scar management strategies (ie. Moisturization /massage, use of silicone, appropriate prescription and measurement for compression garments)
- Contracture prevention and management (including proper positioning, exercise prescription and fabrication / modification of custom splints)
- A willingness to liaise directly with the referring physician in terms of treatment planning / problem identification and to seek appropriate clarification of orders when require

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay: $36.65 per hour to $45.81 per hour

**Qualifications**:

- Successful Completion of an Undergraduate Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy
- Completion of Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy preferred
- Current Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
- Current membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Workload Measurement software (Infomed)
- Demonstrated ability to ensure an evidence-informed approach to patient care
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively to promote interprofessional practice and achieve optimal patient care
- Proven critical thinking and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication skills (both verbal and written), leadership and teaching skills
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and function independently
- Demonstrated committed to ongoing learning for the purpose of improving patient outcomes through seeking, creating, applying, disseminating and translating knowledge
- Excellent information research skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
