Established in 1859, the University of Toronto’s Department of Chemistry is one of the leading and recognized institutions in Canada. Our department has a wide variety of services including chemical stores, NMR lab, X-Ray analysis lab, and a Mass Spectrometry lab. Reporting to the Manager, Finance and HR Administration in the Grant and Financial Administrator mainly support the Acceleration Consortium and Alán Aspuru-Guzik's research grants.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Forecasting, planning and monitoring multiple complex budgets
- Analyzing complex statistical reports and/or financial information for management decision-making
- Monitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on funding accounts for grants and contracts
- Ensuring research sponsor financial terms have been applied correctly
- Liaising with internal contacts to resolve restricted fund administration and reporting issues
- Providing advice and data to support the development of business cases and analytics for departmental initiatives
- Processing payroll

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree in business and/or accounting or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum four (4) years’ of financial experience related to research grants, and contracts.
- Solid work experience in aspects of accounting, including payroll, account reconciliation, and preparation of financial statements. Working experience with general accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience interpreting and adhering to granting agencies’ funding guidelines and policies.
- Proven experience with compiling, investigating, and analyzing financial information and making recommendations based on the outcome of analyses.
- Experience with financial forecasting analysis abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Highly proficient in using MS Office with advanced MS Excel skills.
- Experience with University’s Administrative Management System (FIS, DIS, RIS and HRIS) or other similar systems.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to also work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Detailed orientated with demonstrated flexibility. Must have attention to detail and must be accurate in performing work.

- Strong ability to work under pressure, meet various deadlines, and cope with various tasks.
- Ability to handle matters of a sensitive and confidential nature.
