Poochike Adventures is a small, reliable dog hiking company based out of Vancouver/North Vancouver. For the past 22 years we have been happily picking up groups of 6 dogs, twice a day, and running them silly through the hills of the North Shore. If you're an outdoor enthusiast who loves dogs, it's a dream job. If you don't like hiking and dogs aren't your thing, this job is hell....maybe don't apply.
We (I say we to sound more professional, but it's actually just me) are looking for a full time dog hiker who is.....
- available between the hours of 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday
- relatively fit (can hike up to 3 hours per day/5 days per week)
- isn't afraid of rain
- can read dog behaviour, ie. tell the difference between play and aggression
- can manage up to 6 dogs off leash on a hike
- is a good driver with a clean driving record
- fluent in English and communicates well
- works well on their own and is a good problem solver
- has a cell phone with data plan
- and loves dogs of course.
The duties include...
- Pick up 6 dogs maximum from their homes
- Hike the dogs for 1.5 hours
- Get them back to the vehicle happy and in one piece
- Towel them off
- Drop them back off home
- Do that twice and go home yourself
That's pretty much it, that's the job. I'm happy to get into the finer details during the job interview.
There are 2 ways to work here.....
- **Contractor with own vehicle** - The pay is $22.50/dog, up to 6 dogs per hike x 2 hikes per day. All vehicle expenses are yours to handle, gas, insurance, maintenance, etc. You earn more money this way, but have more responsibility.
- **Employee using company vehicle - **The pay is $20/hour, the end. Company takes care of the vehicle expenses. Must be able to get to head office at Nanaimo/Powell to pick up vehicle in the mornings.

**Qualifications**:
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients
- Comfortable working with dogs of various sizes and temperaments
- Physically fit and able to walk for extended periods
- Knowledge of basic dog behaviour and handling techniques
- Previous experience working with animals is a plus
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
