**Description of course**:
This final course will focus on knowledge and skills that can best be taught and examined in person: how to handle a face-to-face meeting with a client, interviewing skills, and testifying in court as an expert witness. Students will learn about the human dynamics as well as the techniques involved. Students will have the opportunity to practice their skills, and will be evaluated in each of these areas. This course consists of a 6-day Capstone Residency session from Tuesday, August 15, 2023 to Sunday, August 20, 2023. Two days will consist of classroom and workshop sessions regarding Expert Witness, and one of the last two days will be used to evaluate the students’ knowledge and skills regarding the Expert Witness module. The objective of the Expert Evidence module is for students to learn and refine their skills related to testifying as an expert in court, or in other legal proceedings. This module will be taught using a combination of lectures, demonstrations and practical exercises. Students will be encouraged to participate in a practice session where they will role-play in preparation for their subsequent "moot court session" with lawyers in which the students will be evaluated. Prior to attending this program, students should read the preparatory reading materials and will be expected to read the case-related materials in preparation for the evaluation sessions at the end of the course.
