Barrier Ridge Capital Inc. (BRC) is a unique private equity firm with a different approach. BRC utilizes its success in operating companies to view private equity opportunities through an entrepreneur’s lens.

We are seeking a Corporate Controller to join the Accounting and Finance team for Barrier Ridge Capital, based in Aurora. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position will be responsible for financial reporting analyses, budgeting & forecasting, financial reporting, and support management in making decisions for their businesses. This new role was created to support various operating companies under BRC management.

**Role**

This is a changing environment, and your ability to excel in ambiguity will be critical. The team you'll join has a strong work ethic and is collaborative and supportive. The Controller oversees all accounting and reporting requirements related to several legal entities. This position interfaces closely with all managers and senior management of each individual business.
**Key Accountabilities**
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end activities related to legal entity reporting.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting operational functions.
- Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
- Assist in maintaining policies and procedures that impose adequate control over treasury activities for each individual business.
- Coordinate activities of external auditors for each individual business.
- Provide management with information vital to the decision-making process.
- Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
- Evaluate accounting and internal control systems.
- Develop and monitor business performance metrics.
- Hire, train, and retain skilled accounting staff.
- Complete monthly and quarterly reporting and analysis packages.
- Exhibit flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments as they are identified and assist with various ad hoc projects as needed.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- Minimum of 8 years’ experience working in Finance/Accounting, ideally 3 years as a Controller.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or Mathematics and a CPA designation or equivalent.
- Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to undertake research and translate complex information into useful insights.
- Prior experience implementing procedures and tools for consolidated financial reporting is ideal.
- Keen attention to detail and highly accurate work.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills to mentor and support the team.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- A self-starter who can multitask in an efficient and controlled manner with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Team Player - Possesses good interpersonal skills with ability to work well with others.
