**Major Job Responsibilities**
- Prepares amendments to the Town’s Official Plan, Secondary Plans and Comprehensive Zoning By-law as required
- Provides Official Plan interpretation and information relating to various policy projects to staff, Council, external agencies, the general public and the development industry
- Provides technical support and assistance to the Planner(s) and other staff of the Division
- Facilitates community engagement in a positive and inclusive manner
- Monitors, evaluates and responds to existing and emerging Provincial, Regional and other planning initiatives; often in collaboration with various external agencies
- Presents reports and recommendations to Council and Committees,
- Undertakes background research and analysis on land use, demographic, economic, environmental and development related issues; provides projections based on this analysis
- Participates in the preparation of terms of reference and the administration of consultant studies
- Contributes to the preparation of draft plans and policies
- Assists with heritage planning from time to time, including the implementation of the Town’s street naming policies and procedures
- Represents the Department at meetings with stakeholders and the general public
- Monitors implementation of Official Plan and Secondary Plan policies
- Complies with all health and safety practices as it relates to the work, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Attends out of hours’ meetings when required.
- Performs Other duties as assigned in accordance with departmental objectives

**Education and Experience**
- University degree in Community, Urban or Regional Planning or a discipline related to Planning required
- Must be eligible for a full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI)
- Minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible and varied planning experience required
- Two (2) to five (5) years’ experience working in a municipal planning environment in a policy planning capacity is preferred
- Cultural Heritage and/or environmental planning experience is considered an asset
- Knowledge of the relevant Planning legislation, Provincial policies and Plans as well as current regulations and evolving planning policy trends is required
- Ability to write clear, precise, well organized and inclusive reports and planning documents
- Highly developed presentation skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate ideas, methods and recommendations to all levels of the organization, other technical experts, community partners and the general public using verbal, written and graphical techniques
- Strong negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution and public relations skills
- Strong project management, research, analytical and problem solving skills

**Salary Range**: $77,249 - $96,561
