The RAI RPN covers RPN House Managers on the floor in order for them to be able to effectively complete RAI assessments in office with the RAI Coordinator. The RAI RPN is also the back-up for the RAI Coordinator when they are away and follows the Trinity Village process and procedures for clinical assessment as a primary user of a Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI).

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assist the RAI Coordinator in overseeing the RAI process according to home policies, MOHLTC regulation, College Standards of Practice and inter RAI requirements (see CIHI User’s Manual)
- Ensure MDS assessments, resident assessment protocols, and care planning are completed timely and in quality standards for documentation
- Oversee Nursing Restorative Care program in the home according to the MOHLTC standards
- Adhere to Trinity Village/LHKW's Mission, Vision, and Values, and follow all organizational policies and procedures
- Adhere to the following initiatives for this role: Eden Alternative Philosophy of Care, Green Environmental Initiatives, and CARF Accreditation standards
- Choose attitudes and behaviours that are aligned with the Code of Conduct and Ethics, and ensure the health and safety of yourself and others at all times
- Actively participate in team meetings, organizational objectives, committees, and special events
- Remain compliant to all legislative bodies as required by Trinity Village/LHKW, and report as required
- Be familiar with and adhere to the Resident’s Bill of Rights as dictated by the Long-Term Care Homes Act
- Complete all mandatory training as assigned

TASKS & DUTIES:

- Replace the RPN House Manager in order for that individual to complete assessments for their House in a timely way
- May be required in critical situations to work as a House Manager
- Audit all MDS Assessments and ensure errors are corrected prior to being locked by the RAI Coordinator
- Ensure care plans and Kardex are consistently reviewed, updated, and data is current and accurate
- Assist, as required, in the development of the resident assessment schedule
- Communicate with families or SDM regarding Care Conferences, etc., as per the RAI Coordinator
- Attend each Care Conference with prepared reports in order to contribute resident’s current status and ADL details when the RAI Coordinator is unable
- Assist the RAI Coordinator in phoning families or SDM in a timely manner in order to communicate resident’s current status and ADL details as a result of the quarterly Care Conference
- Assist RAI users to correctly code assessments and providing support for validation of coding

Qualifications:

- Current RPN or RN in good standing, registered with CNO
- A minimum of one year of clinical experience
- Minimum of one year of RAI-MDS experience with proven accuracy in reporting
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge and experience with adult education strategies/facilitation
- Well organized, with strong time management skills
- Aptitude for detail-oriented work
- Proficient computer skills
