**Position Summary**
- The Manager, Projects & Learning Design (MPLD) is part of the Academic Innovation Leadership team and works collaboratively with CTLR staff, VCC Schools, and other academic areas to provide strategic leadership, oversight, and inform the design and development of academic innovation projects. The MPLD provides project management and learning design expertise using best practices and frameworks that meet the academic standards required by VCC, professional accrediting bodies, and the British Columbia public post-secondary education system.
- The MPLD works pan-institutionally and in collaboration with programs and Schools on a range of projects, including micro-credentials, open educational resources, authentic assessments, experiential learning, and learning technologies. They provide project management leadership on externally funded projects and internally funded projects where needed.
- The MPLD participates on relevant internal and external committees pertaining to educational development and learning technologies and serves as backup for the Manager Online Learning Strategy & Design as required.
- The MPLD reports to the AVP, Academic Innovation.**Duties & Responsibilities**

**1. Strategic Leadership and Operational Planning**
- Leads and /or facilitates cross-functional teams consisting of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful, efficient, and on-budget implementation of projects and initiatives. Participates in the College’s strategic plan initiatives relevant to the academic innovation. **2. Project Management**
- Responsible for overall project management including establishing the project plan and timelines in conjunction with the project development team, managing project budgets and reporting, ensuring deliverables are met within project timelines.

**3. Learning Design**
- Participates in fostering the development of an innovative culture within VCC to create and sustain high-quality academic and applied programs.
- Builds organizational capacity in learning design, emerging technologies.
- Provides advice and guidance with respect to innovative delivery models.
- Manages a range of technology-supported and learning design projects, in support of academic plan and Strategic Innovation Plan priorities. Collaborates in the design of innovative teaching and learning environments for programs and courses.**4. Teaching and Learning Technologies**
- Maintains currency and up-to-date knowledge in online and blended instructional technologies, including artificial intelligence.
- Research topics related to best practices in educational technology, instructional design, evaluation and other educational issues to inform best practices for blended and online learning.
- Assists in the mentoring, skill enhancement, and knowledge transfer to faculty and the College community as required. Contributes to VCC showcasing of innovative instructional designs and frameworks.**5. Leadership and Human Resources Management**
- Supervises assigned staff and participates in the recruitment, evaluation, training and development and performance management of staff within the scope defined by College policy and Collective Agreement.
- Sets appropriate performance expectations, and evaluates performance based on those expectations and objectives.
- Provides leadership, feedback and coaching to project team members to enhance deliverables and improve student experience.
- Reviews and approves requests for vacation, professional development, and leaves.
- Interprets and administers the provisions of collective agreements, employment terms of conditions and College policies, and advises staff as appropriate.
- May provide information and support regarding department requirements for Faculty and CUPE collective bargaining.
- May act as a management representative in the grievance process and disciplinary actions.
- In accordance with the collective agreements, coordinates and signs off on support staff performance reviews.
