Admission Counselor

Venture Academy is seeking an Admission Counsellor to join our team in **Alberta**. This role is Part-Time and could evolve into Full Time as needed. **The role is also a mix of on-site and work-from-home with 30-50% of the time being required on-site.**

**Responsibilities and Duties**

The Admission Counsellor will be adept in crisis intervention and collaborative problem-solving. They will possess the ability to quickly establish a positive rapport, and effectively support families through the admission process. You will be responsible for supporting families, promoting Venture Academy where applicable and finding subsequent resources where it is not. You will be responsible for the initial chart set-up in the EMR and managing the family/youth throughout the admission process as well as conducting the admission on the day of. Having excellent written and verbal communication is key to this role.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Superior communication skills, both oral and written including report writing
- Handles multiple and competing priorities and deadlines with ease
- Quickly able to build rapport and develop trust based relationships
- Exercises excellent judgment
- Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Able to plan, organize and prioritize work, multitask and manage time effectively
- Extensive knowledge of adolescent development, DSM5and concurrent disorders
- Intimate working knowledge of collaborative problem solving and attachment theory
- Strong knowledge of MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Highly professional
- High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information
- Has high standards of quality
- Able to function effectively in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
- Passionate about helping youth make positive changes
- Extensive experience in intervention planning, implementation, evaluation and redesign
- Knowledge of CBT and DBT as well as other behaviour modification techniques
- Strong client care skills

This is a hands-on, front-line role working with families whose children are struggling with their mental health and/or substance misuse. As an admissions counsellor you are the first contact when families are in duress.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 16-24 per week

**Salary**: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
