**Position Status**: Summer Employment (June 24-August 23, 2024)

**Salary Range**: $15.20 per hour

**Start Date**: June 2024

The YMCA of Cape Breton is looking for a dynamic individual to join our **Child and Youth **Team. We are hiring for summer positions to support our summer day camp based out of our Charlotte Street and Eltuek Arts Center locations.

**Responsibilities & Duties**:
YMCA Child and Youth staff are responsible for providing a safe, positive, inclusive environment for kids.

Specifically, you will:

- Bring the fun-factor while providing confidence building opportunities for youth
- Ensure quality, inclusive, meaningful programming for children and youth
- Serve as role model and mentor for children/youth participants
- Provide excellent customer service to participants and families
- Complete necessary paperwork and safety-related tasks

**Qualifications**:
As an energetic, creative programmer, you bring:

- Demonstrated success in planning/organizing games, sports, arts, crafts, cultural activities, etc.
- Experience working with children OR partial training and coursework in early childhood education or a field that qualifies a person to work with children and families.
- Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills to work with youth, parents, and staff
- Demonstrated ability to meet multiple, competing deadlines and priorities
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation/workshop facilitation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- “High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development” training considered an asset
