**Job Title: Finance Clerk**

**Location**: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

**Reports To**: Finance Manager

**Job Status**:Full-Time Permanent / 37.5 hours per week

**Starting Rate of Pay**:$21.74 per hour

**RESPONSIBLIITIES**
- **Finance Support Functions**_
- Performs Account Reconciliations;
- Performs Full Cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable;
- Perform monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities including the processing of receipts and payments, the reconciliation of bank, credit card and other balance sheet control accounts, preparation and assistance with the annual audit and/or other reviews, assistance with special projects, and support as required for the review of financial information/reports;
- Codes, totals, batches, enters, verifies and reconciles transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, purchase orders, cheques, invoices, cheque requisitions, and bank statements in the General Ledger and our Accounting system (Sage 300);
- Detects and resolves account discrepancies;
- Deposits funds into bank accounts and performs bank reconciliations;
- Communicates with various parties regarding pertinent and necessary financial information, maintaining good relationships and solving issues/problems as they arise;
- Supports benefits and pension enrollment for staff;
- Prepares and receives electronic purchase orders;
- Oversees handling of petty cash; and
- Other duties as required.

**EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**
- Minimum of a two (2) year post-secondary diploma in accounting;
- Two (2) to five (5) years of related and relevant experience is desired;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of Sage 300;
- High proficiency level with MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookups, Conditional Formatting, etc.);
- Ability to enter data accurately and quickly;
- Ability to pay close attention to detail, and spot inconsistencies and discrepancies in work;
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, fairly autonomous work environment;
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality of sensitive information;
- Great teamwork skills and the ability to build strong and effective working relationships with others;
- Experience with exercising independent judgment and initiative, setting priorities and managing time effectively;
- A fast learner, with the willingness and ability to undertake training and self-directed learning needed in order to fulfill the changing requirements of the job; and,
- Familiarity and comfortability with the Microsoft Office Suite.

**WAGE PROGRESSION**

This is a unionized position. The hourly rate and annual increases are set out in the Collective Agreement:

- **Step 3**:

- $22.32
- **Step 4** -$22.60
- **Step 5 **-$22.88
- **Step 6 **-$23.23
- **Step 7** - $23.56
- **Step 8** - $23.91
