Qualifications:
**Essential**:

- Post-secondary education at the Bachelor’s level or higher, in Social Sciences, or a relevant specialized discipline, with related work experience. Other equivalent combinations of education, training and direct professional experience may be considered.
- Ability to foster team engagement through coaching, guiding work and developing employees and building strong lines of communication, trusting relationships, and accountability.
- Strong background and proficiency in intergovernmental relations, and a demonstrated knowledge of Federal-Provincial-Territorial tables.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to formulate recommendations to senior leaders.
- Experience in the planning, research, design, development and implementation of policies and programs involving complex and dynamic issues.
- Excellent political acumen to navigate sensitive and confidential issues with tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize evidence-based data, develop implementation and evaluation plans.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive working relationships and partnerships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written communication skills to prepare documents for executive decision-makers and diverse stakeholders.
- Strong verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with various levels of internal and external audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and experience working independently, under pressure while managing multiple priorities in tight timeframes.

**Duties**:
Reporting to the Executive Director for WAGE MB, the Assistant Director is responsible for leading a team that develops of policies that promote gender equality, improve the economic, social and health status of women, and contribute to ending exploitation and violence against women and 2SLGBTQI+ people. This includes providing strategic advice, analysis and support in the review and development of legislation, policies and programs affecting the experiences of women and 2SLGBTQI+ people within the Manitoba government and across other provincial, territorial and federal governments in Canada; liaising and building relationships with other government departments and non-governmental organizations; and carrying out research and projects as directed by the Executive Director. This position leads a team of policy analysts and operates and makes decisions in a sensitive and high-profile environment with significant public exposure. The Assistant Director attends Ministerial briefings as required to present on various topics.
