**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- **Summary**_

As a Men's Mental Health Facilitator, you will be at the forefront of delivering structured group support, education, and therapeutic interventions for men experiencing difficulties in their lives. Your role is crucial in creating a safe, supportive, and confidential environment where men can share their experiences and develop coping strategies. You will facilitate group discussions, provide one-on-one support as needed, and work collaboratively with mental health professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
- **Group/Meeting Facilitation**_

Ø Foster a group dynamic that promotes inclusivity, respect, and mutual support among participants.

Ø Facilitate structured group sessions for men, incorporating evidence-based practices to promote mental wellness and resilience.

Ø Identify signs of mental distress among participants and respond with appropriate interventions and/or referrals.

Ø Conduct risk assessments and crisis interventions, utilizing de-escalation techniques and adhering to emergency protocols when necessary.

Ø Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources and emergency contacts, providing referrals and follow-up support as needed.

Ø Understanding and use of conflict resolution strategies as needed.

Ø Establish and maintain appropriate and ethical boundaries.
- **Administration**_

Ø Document session details, progress notes, and crisis incidents while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal and ethical guidelines.

Ø Collect and record evaluations and provide recommendations for outcome delivery and changes when required/indicated.

Ø Ensure all support group meetings are effectively prepared in advance.

Ø Participate in supervision and team meetings, contributing to the program's continuous improvement and development as required.
- **RCSP**_

Ø Participate in special projects as schedule permits and attend related meetings as required.

Ø Collaborate with mental health professionals, stakeholders, and community organizations to advocate for men’s mental health and to develop outreach initiatives as required.

Ø Engage in continuous professional development to enhance facilitation skills, including workshops on crisis management, emotional regulation, and self-care.
- **Qualifications**_

Ø Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Addictions, Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or related field.

Ø Registered and in good standing with the relevant provincial or territorial regulatory body (if applicable).

Ø Minimum of five years of experience in social work or mental health services, with a focus on men’s issues preferred.

Ø Trained in crisis intervention and risk assessment, with the ability to maintain a calm and effective response during emergencies.

Ø Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, to meet the needs of the program and its participants.

Ø Knowledge and experience in mental health:

- Skills in crisis intervention and risk assessment.
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshop certification.
- Indigenous Canada Course.
- Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certification.
- Standard First Aid & CPR or equivalent.
- OR a combination of relevant experience/training.

Ø Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups, with a solid understanding of group dynamics and therapeutic processes.

Ø Strong interpersonal skills, with the capacity to engage empathetically and constructively with diverse populations.

Ø Proficiency in maintaining professional records and documentation.

Ø Thorough understanding of group dynamics and group process.

Ø Exceptional effective listening skills.

Ø Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Ø Skills to work independently, and effectively within a team.

Ø Understanding of and sensitivity to diverse populations.

Ø Understanding and implementing self care.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $70.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3 per week
