Inspection Team Lead

The Ultra Assurance function is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and fulfilment of Ultra's Quality Policy, which is to comply fully in the conduct of the Company's business with all applicable regulatory and customer required specifications, and to maintain an effective Quality Management System, working in partnership with the Operations and Engineering teams to ensure that products and processes conform to applicable standards and specifications, and the incidence and costs of quality non-conformances are constantly monitored and improved, while maintaining the highest practicable standards of manufacturing productivity and efficiency.
As a key member of the Quality / Product Assurance team, the Inspection Team Lead ensures the inspection team carries out all the duties defined but not limited to their role profile. This is a hands-on role so carrying out inspection activities will be expected.
In addition to the Inspection Working Team Leader shall also be responsible for the maintenance of the calibration management process
Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for all activities related to goods-in/out Inspection and maintaining priorities
- Ensure all inspection plans are created, communicated, followed, and periodically reviewed
- Set objectives for your direct reports
- Management of the inspection team
- Create. Maintain and deliver training awareness modules relevant to your function of accountability / responsibility
- Ensure inspection performance metrics are created, maintained, and effectively advertised
- Attend daily production reviews which inspection contributes too
- Development and maintenance of all related procedures, policies, forms, templates, guidance material, etc. related to your function of accountability
- Work collaboratively with production with effective feedback relating to any trends identified within inspection performance
- Work with the Product Assurance Managers for each program to ensure the WLF is accounted for
- Accountable for the calibration of all equipment including the maintenance of the calibration register for the organization
- Maintain Documentation for Inspection processes
- Feedback any concerns relating to supplier product conformance
- On site present 5 days per week
- Advocate Product Assurance and its importance throughout the Ultra group
- Promote the ASPIRE values and hold others to those values
Skills, Qualification and Experience
- Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or equivalent experience of five (5) or more years in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the defence industry
- Must display leadership ability, able to influence others to perform their jobs effectively, and to be responsible for making decisions. Previous supervisor experience highly desired
- Must be able to obtain a NATO Secret level security clearance within one (1) year
- Knowledge of quality systems, gauging, and close tolerance measurement
- General understanding of mechanical & electrical blueprints is required
- Knowledge of special equipment (IE CMM) is an asset
- Knowledge of measurement equipment & calibration
- Must have a general understanding of the quality management system
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Working Knowledge of IFS ERP an advantage
- Internal Auditor qualification is considered an asset
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 / 620 an advantage
