Reporting to the Supervisor of Parks Maintenance the Lead Hand, will co-ordinate and lead the parks maintenance staff and provide direction and guidance to full-time, seasonal and student employees. Duties include but are not limited to providing hands-on leadership and instruction to the parks maintenance team, maintaining accurate records as required and preparing and following maintenance and inspection programs for parks properties, structures, buildings and equipment. The Lead Hand shall have a good knowledge and understanding of the various aspects of building and maintenance. In addition, shall be able to coordinate and lead an effective maintenance program in a safe, effective and efficient manner. The Lead Hand will foster a positive and innovative work environment and ensure that safe working conditions and practices are implemented. Hours of work vary and may include weekends and evenings. Lead Hands may also be asked to work unscheduled hours as necessary.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent education
- Must hold a Facilities Technician certification through the Ontario College of Trades
- Current Canadian Playground Safety Institute Playground Inspector certification or equivalent (Ontario Parks Association Registered Playground Practitioner)
- Ontario Parks Association Spray Pad Practitioner Certification would be considered an asset
- Ontario Parks Association Trails Risk Management level 1 or Trails Specialist Workshop would be considered an asset
- Have basic knowledge and be able to carry out minor repairs in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and other general maintenance duties
- Pervious demonstrated work experience and leadership skills acquired through a minimum of five (5) years of practical experience in a team environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in maintenance of related programs for various parks properties, buildings structures and equipment
- Demonstrated effective communication, both oral and written, customer service and problem solving skills. Proficient time management skills and flexibility in adjusting between a variety of duties
- Must possess an understanding of the Ministry of Transportation Book 7 and Book 18, WHMIS, Building Code Act and working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and will ensure that all work is undertaken safely in accordance with all policies, procedures and regulations
- Certifications in chainsaw, chipping and load securement would be considered an asset
- Current Certification in Standard First Aid and level C CPR
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License
- Must be willing to work a 40hr work week in varying weather conditions

**WAGE/SALARY RANGE**: $26.06 to $32.57 per hour (40 hours per week) plus benefits.
