**Full Job Description**

Farrell’s Excavating Ltd. has an opportunity available for a Grader Operator based out of St. John’s, Newfoundland. _Travel within Newfoundland will be required for projects._

Farrell’s Excavating has been providing service in the heavy civil industry of Newfoundland since its incorporation over 30 years ago. We play a major role in the completion of many large government and municipal projects that involve the building and paving of many of the province's main highways and rural roads.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Responsible for safe operation, non-mechanical maintenance and up-keep of equipment. Conduct pre-operation checks and documentation as required
- Operating grader equipment to fine grade, spread & push piles of sand, soil and aggregate materials.
- Precisely operate grader blade to windrow gravel to the center of the road.
- Operate grader controls to regulate height and angle of the grader blade and lower scarifier to loosen packed soil to permit grading.
- Finish grade base surface preparation to specified tolerances.
- Ability to do ripping, contouring, trimming slopes and ditch cuts.
- Refuel, clean, and lubricate equipment as prescribed.
- Secure special attachments to equipment.

**Qualifications**

Experience/knowledge with the following is required for consideration:

- Operate one or more types of construction equipment; such as graders, gravel rollers, milling machines, backhoes and/or skid steers.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Able to work independently in a busy environment.
- Comfortable working in a rugged outdoor environment.
- A minimum of two years of experience working on the heavy civil industry.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 6 months

**Salary**: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
