**About this Role**
Under the direction of the Executive Chef and the supervision of our Culinary management Team, the 1st Cook position is responsible for maintaining the smooth and efficient operation of all sections on the line and serving areas through effective time management, overall professionalism and poise. The 1st Cook is responsible for providing gracious level of customer service to ensure guest satisfaction in a high-volume establishment. This role must contribute to a safe and welcoming work environment and must lead by example to create Great Experiences and Memories for all guests and colleagues Under 2 - Red Seal Certified Chefs, this position offers an opportunity to learn and grow in the culinary arts and develop the supervisory and kitchen management skills for your future career advancement goals. **What you’ll get to DO**
- Responsible for preparing all menu items with strict adherence to menu and ingredients specifications;
- Direct the line and be accountable for the success of each shift; provide training to 2nd & 3rd Cooks on menu items
- Setup, prepare and cook food items for the buffet or Pub outlets;
- Work co-operatively with other kitchen personnel to prepare hot and cold food items for the buffet and Pub;
- Prepare meat, seafood and raw food items in accordance with established recipes and food safety standards;
- Comply with food safety regulations and ensure all temperature logs are completed accurately;
- Control food waste and spoilage;
- Daily cleanliness standards and health and safety protocols need to be adhered to on a daily basis
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed;
**What you’ll need to be Successful**
- Must be 19 years of age or older
- Minimum 1-3 years as a 2nd Cook or other relevant progressive culinary experience
- Working towards RED SEAL certification or desire to grow in the culinary arts
- Must be available to work a variety of shifts including, days, nights, weekends and statutory holidays
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers and staff
- Ability to pass a criminal background check & attain a Food Safety Certification
