**Position Overview**:
Reporting directly to the President, the Glass Supervisor will oversees the Glass Department production in accordance with plant policies and procedures and in compliance with safety policies. The Glass Supervisor is responsible for delivering high quality products on time with a commitment to safety and to use all resources efficiently to improve productivity.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Accountable for the health and safety of workers in the Glass Department and drives and supports Health & Safety initiatives.
- Manages and schedules labour to expedite daily work orders efficiently meeting (KPI) budget goals and meeting daily production targets.
- Ensures quality of products at all times, (perform hourly inspections on products.)
- Ensures that protective equipment required by law and safety policies are used and maintained properly by employees and that employees understand the reason for its use.
- Ensures that all injuries are treated and reported.
- Investigates and reports all accidents and takes corrective action.
- Demonstrates and observes proper and safe material handling and lifting techniques.
- Coordinates the training of plant employees.
- Ensures a clean and safe work area.
- Liaises with Load Maker to plan production for the day.
- Monitors inventory at all times to ensure availability and to avoid shortage.
- Makes requests to purchasing (re: glass, grill bars, etc.).
- Completes spacer purchase orders and forward to Accounts Payable for inventory.
- Start-up and inspection of machinery prior to shift start and oversees and inspects end of shift, shut down.
- Updates purchase orders when jobs are completed.
- Liaises with maintenance department to ensure proper maintenance scheduling, repairs and purchasing of parts.
- Makes recommendations for new machinery as required.
- Manages employee relations, performance issues and all aspects of staffing for the Glass Department; hiring, lay-offs, recall, terminations, scheduling, overtime, etc.
- Responsible for shift schedules; rotations, training, vacations, breaks, overtime, back-up for absent employees and managing employee attendance, start and stop of machinery at beginning and end of shift ensuring no late arrivals or early departures.
- Approves any payroll discrepancies.
- Communicates production status and escalate issues accordingly.
- Attends daily production meetings.
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills, leads by example and is accountable for all areas of production.
- Communicates and works closely with other Supervisors, Departments and the Plant Manager to ensure better productivity and development. Encourages interdepartmental communication and collaboration.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- At least 7 years experience in a manufacturing environment (window manufacturing experience an asset).
- 3- 5 years experience in a Window manufacturing industry and or Glass, essential.
- High School Diploma. Post Secondary Education an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude and proficient computer skills (MS Office).
- Excellent leadership qualities, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example to ensure a team approach.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment and to effectively schedule and prioritize daily routines as well as specific task completion.
- Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and procedures.
