The Lot Assistant works with other members of the Lot team to coordinate OPENLANE's vehicle inventory. A typical week can include marking/staging vehicles for the sale or transport, inventory scanning & control, photographing vehicles for inspection reports, flagging vehicles being marshaled, assisting with inventory check in/check out, & documenting personal property from repo units.
- This is a full time, permanent position with a regular schedule of 8:30am-5pm Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required, typically during winter months for snow removal.
- In addition to base wage, compensation for this role includes a company paid medical/dental/vision plan, life insurance, 3 weeks of paid time off to start (prorated in first year), RRSP matching, employee discounts, & more.
- Responsibilities include:
- Ensure vehicles are ready for auction & ensuring vehicles are in working order (i.e. boosting, adding gas, attending to lock outs, preparing for towing, and filling tires)-
- Recording any services provided (fuel, tow, etc) to ensure accurate billing-
- Preparing vehicles for the auction, staging for reconditioning shops or transport by ensuring they are moved & parked in their assigned areas-
- Moving, marking, flagging, and/or staging vehicles as instructed-
- Photograph vehicles pre and post-reconditioning-
- Maintain an organized and orderly lot to ensure efficient operations, including completing regular inventory scans-
- Provides customer service by assisting customers or other internal departments in retrieving their vehicles-
- Supports Security/Stock In employee with vehicle stock in & check out process-
- Accurately document and retain personal property from repo vehicles, in accordance with established procedures-
- Manual snow removal as required (clearing vehicles of snow, light shoveling in yard), & may be required to operate snow removal equipment (plow truck, bobcat, loader) - training provided-
- Operate a variety of motor vehicles safely, in accordance with company safety procedures-
- Maintain a safe work environment, reporting all hazards & incidents to supervisor immediately-
- Other duties as assignedQualifications include:
- High school education (or equivalent) preferred-
- Valid driver’s license required-
- Ability to drive both standard & automatic transmissions preferred-
- Licensed to operate motorcycles or ATVs an asset-
- Experience operating snow removal equipment (plow truck, bobcat) is an asset-
- Ability & willingness to work in various weather conditions is a must-
- Basic computer & smartphone skills required-
- Satisfactory drivers' abstract & criminal record check required
