**About us**:
The Enterprise Academic Research & Collaborative Technologies (ARC) group is a partnership between the Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) division and the Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation (CTSI).

The MAD Manager is part of the Academic Research & Collaborative Technologies team that ensures users of ARC initiatives and systems have an outstanding experience. The MAD Manager contributes specific technical and organizational expertise to the team, but does so with a global sense of ownership and pride for the entire ARC ecosystem and experience at the University of Toronto, and an understanding that their actions have an effect far beyond the specifics of the MADLab's initiatives.

**Your opportunity**:
ITS provides leadership and undertakes strategic and tactical initiatives to secure the greatest value from the University’s investment in IT. By strategically focusing on our people and working in collaboration with academic administrators, process owners and distributed IT service providers, ITS identifies technology opportunities and inefficiencies, and implements services and technology solutionsto reduce complexity and improve aggregate IT experience of students, faculty and staff.

Under the direction of theManager, Application and Mobile Development, and the Director, Academic Research & Collaborative Technologies, the Mobile Applications Development (MAD) Manager is responsible for managing the highly complex day-to-day operations of the Information Technology Services (ITS) MAD initiatives.

The MAD Manager is not only responsible for effectively participating in the work of the overall ARC team, but must maintain active collaborations with colleagues in UofT Libraries, EIS, Strategic Communications and elsewhere in the University to achieve overall integration of services. The MAD Manager must ensure that their actions and decisions coincide and follow the overall technical vision and strategy of ITS and University standards. The MAD Manager must keep abreast with new developments in the industry and incorporate new methods into systems and processes.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Analyzing and writing programming code structures based on user requirements
- Acting as an expert resource to developers on architecture, technical standards and coding techniques
- Liaising with IT departments and clients regarding translation of business requirements into technical specifications
- Overseeing day-to-day service delivery requirements and operational needs, including managing the main St. George campus MADLab, and collaborating with UTL
- Developing and delivering workshops, at the MADLab or elsewhere at UofT, or collaboration with UTL or other departments
- Liaising with vendors to coordinate services and resolve issues (Includes, but not limited to, managing the University's corporate accounts for various OS-based app stores
- Developing charter, scope, resources and schedule for project(s)

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Managing a variety of OS-based mobile app and developer accounts and programs
- Excellent working knowledge of programming for, but not limited to, iOS, Android ecosystems
- Excellent working knowledge of appropriate mobile app development tools and SDKs, including but not limited to Xcode, Android Studio, Unity, Apache Cordova, etc.
- Excellent working knowledge of Swift, Kotlin
- Excellent working knowledge of mobile standards and development frameworks, including, but not limited to, UIKit, SwiftUI, Android SDK, SQLite, JSON, etc.
- Knowledge of design tools for UI design, including, bot not limited to, Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, Figma
- Knowledge of source code version control & project management tools and processes, e.g. git, github
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate complex topics related to MAD and other technologies to a non-technical audience

**Assets (Nonessential)**:

- Knowledge of Java and Objective-C an asset
- Knowledge of Shibboleth, OpenID and other authentication protocols an asset.
- Knowledge of security and privacy standards and practices, especially vis-à-vis mobile technologies an asset.
- Knowledge of RESTful Web services standards and Agile methodologies an asset.
