Within the Family Resource Network model, the Early Years Family Resource Facilitator provides a blended service continuum of supports, resources, programs and community engagement activities to young children, their parents (including parents to be), caregivers, community and service providers. These services include but are not limited to information on child development, supported referral and navigation through complex systems and processes, family support, skill development, screening and assessment and development of networks of support.

**Responsibilities**:

- Design and facilitate environments that promote learning and exploration for Preschool
- aged children in a number of settings
- Develop collaborative relationships with parents, caregivers, agencies and communities to help inform, co-create and facilitate programs
- Provide skill building and knowledge transfer opportunities for parents, caregivers, and community members
- Provide information, supported referral and navigation through complex systems and processes
- Provide a range of preventative and early intervention family support programs and services
- Adhere to standards of practice in documentation, case management, ethics and use of supervision

**Skills and Abilities**
- Strong knowledge and skill to support parenting populations that require specialized support such as: teen and young parents, perinatal mood disorders, attachment challenges, neuro diversity, etc. in their parenting journey
- Thorough understanding of the early learning and child care sector
- Familiar with principles of quality early childhood programs including provision of skill building programs to this sector that promote the health and wellbeing of young children, family resiliency and connection to supportive community networks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others in a manner that facilitates decision making and collaboration
- Ability to develop collaborative relationships with parents, caregivers, colleagues, community stakeholders and service providers
- Ability to listen and convey messages in a manner that contributes to clarity and shared understanding
- Broad based knowledge of community resources and experience assisting with supported referral and navigation through complex systems and processes

**Qualifications**
- A degree in Social Science, Early Childhood, Child and Youth Care or related discipline with three years of experience working with young children, parents, caregivers and community; or a diploma plus five years related experience
- Education in fields with registration and/or membership in accredited professional organizations is preferred
- Possess a valid Standard First Aid certificate
- Knowledge of risk assessments, developmentally appropriate practice, mental health, parental scales and developmental screening tools
- Well versed in brain science, normative child development, adverse early childhood experiences (ACES), ecological perspectives and importance of play in growth and development
- Extensive knowledge about child development and parenting strategies
- Core home visitation training as well as risk assessment, crisis intervention, domestic violence protocols, suicide awareness and prevention techniques and safety planning
- WRAP Canada training, Triple P accreditation and Health for Two Training is an asset Able and willing to work days, evenings and weekends

**Conditions of Employment**
- Submission of satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's licence and submission of a 5-year Driver's Abstract with less than 7 demerits

Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
