Exploration Logistics Manager

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Exploration Logistics Manager collaborates with the exploration team to provide quality logístical support services and is responsible for the coordination of exploration program contractors and services.
Exploration operations are based out of Arizona. Working remotely from home or field office will be complemented with field visits at exploration properties.
This position is ideally suited for an individual who has worked in the exploration division of an exploration company and is seeking professional growth.
LOGISTICS PLANNING AND COORDINATION
- Develop comprehensive exploration logistics plans in collaboration with project managers and exploration teams;
- Coordinate transportation arrangements, including land, and air logistics, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of personnel, equipment, and supplies to exploration sites;
- Oversee the management of exploration camp facilities, ensuring adequate infrastructure, catering, and other essential services are provided; and
- Collaborate with exploration teams to determine optimal exploration routes and access points based on logístical constraints.
SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing procurement processes for equipment, consumables, and services required for exploration operations;
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring availability of necessary supplies while minimizing excess stock and associated costs;
- Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to schedule and track the delivery of equipment and materials to exploration sites; and
- Implement inventory control procedures, including storage, inspection, and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
HEALTH, SAFETY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards throughout exploration activities;
- Develop and enforce procedures and protocols to mitigate risk and promote safe working practices within exploration logistics operations;
- Collaborate with the Health, Safety, and Environmental department to conduct regular risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures; and
- Monitor and report on any incidents, accidents, or near-misses related to exploration logistics activities.
TEAM COLLABORATION
- Coordinate with exploration project managers, geologists, and other personnel to ensure seamless integration of logistics operations with overall project plans; and
- Conduct regular reviews, identify training needs, and facilitate opportunities for skills development as identifies.
BUDGETING AND REPORTING
- Coordinate with accounting the exploration logistics budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost control;
- Prepare regular reporting on logistics operations, including key performance indicators, budget variances, and recommendations for process improvement; and
- Analyze data and metrics to identify areas of inefficiency and implement corrective actions.
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred;
- Proven experience (5+ years) in logistics management, preferably in the mining or exploration industry;
- Strong understanding of exploration operations, including drilling, sampling, and mapping activities;
- Excellent knowledge of supply chain management principles, procurement processes, and inventory control;
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to exploration activities;
- Proficient in using logistics software, inventory management systems, and other relevant tools;
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent interpersonal and team management skills;
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on efficiency and cost optimization;
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders;
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in remote locations and challenging environments as required; and
- Valid driver’s license.
